My wood+glass sliding door (3-panel) for my family room is jammed after not sliding it for too long. Perhaps the roller has flatten due to weight on it for too long. I am clueless. Urgently need someone to solve the problem as I can't close the door so cannot turn on the aircon. As you know, the weather is really toasty these days. HELP!!!

There are a few ball bearings under the panels. This is what allows the doors to slide freely along the track. For those doors that are "stuck", it is usually due to broken ball bearings. You could try to call the window/grill/glass door contractor and ask them how much it would cost to replace the bearings. My advice is to check all doors and replace all at a go. The bearings are cheap but the cost of them coming is expensive. They can do it under 10mins. Cost me $30 once and another time it was free because I had other jobs (installed grills) ...

My metal/glass sliding door also got stuck a few months ago. the technician came and screwed something that raised the door a bit. The door was sitting on the floor/rail with the ball bearings apparently not between the rail/floor and the door. After raising the door, the ball bearings was in betw the rail/floor and the door, and it became smooth again.

I had examined the rails. The sliding doors rollers seem to be at the top rail. I don't understand how this set of sliding door works otherwise we can change it ourselves. DH is able to change the rollers for the toilet sliding door but these wooden ones has 3 panels and are very heavy with frosted glass.

We had one guy who came on site to assess the problem, has to pay 10 buck for that. He wanted to charge $90. We didn't let him do because we doubted his professional knowledge. He didn't seem to understand the problem and we didn't want him to use our doors for trial and error solution.

Your contractor seem quite knowledgeable on sliding door, can share his contact by pm? Thanks!

This is that I guessed, after seeing him do what he did:
- the rollers are prob supporting the base which is height-adjustable
- the height-adjustable base that the rollers are sitting on, is with respect to the sliding door. Screws can adjust the height of this base.
- if base is high, it means there is a lot of space betw the base and the track/rails, and if the rollers are smaller in diameter than the height of the base, the whole sliding door is sitting on the track/rail and the rollers have no effect - so the door won't slide
- if base is too low, there might not be enough space betw the sliding door and the track/rail to hold/trap the rollers in place, and the rollers might roll away and the door might sit on the track/rail too
- if height is just right, the rollers are kept/trapped in position betw the base and the track/rail and the door can then function properly

The technician is a 'in-house' repairman for my condo, recommended by the mgmt office. He does all sort of works, from plumbing to electrical. But actually I am not sure if he is really an expert in all/any of the fields, it's probably just OJT all the years. I'll pm you his contact and you can decide whether to engage him.

The door wheels are jammed with zinc if not used for long time. It cannot be repaired. So there is need of replace the wheels, the sliding will be fine.
