My maid 's father was critically ill . She requested to have home leave back to see her dad . She only worked for 10 mths and loan just fully paid . All her $ she sent back to her home for medical bills . Even before she pay up all her loans , I lend her $ to send back as she says her children no rice to eat , shoes broken etc . Now she only left with $250 .
Shall I lend her $ again ? Check with agency , it costs $290 for home leave application . Not cheap to go back now .

Shall I lend her $ ? Her only sis in law work in Singapore also refuse to lend her $.

Everyone will tell you sad story when they want to borrow money. How else to get loan?

You've known her for 10 months, only you can decide if you can trust her.

Thought only login to MOM website declare home leave will do?

Be prepared high chance she won't come back

Why home leave application need $290? U just have to pay for her air tickets if u are sponsoring her. Application is just to inform. No charge.

My maid had a week off cos she told me her dad passed away. We sponsored her air tickets only after 4 to 5 months of working with us. No idea whether she is lying or not, but to cut short the story, I can only say that I really regret sponsoring her n letting her go back for a week. Gave us alot of trouble and headache. It doesnt pay to be nice to maids.

Maid go home on leave must apply to MOM?
Since when ?
When my maid went home on leave (about 4 years ago tho'), just bought 2-way ticket and sent her to airport.
Now must apply for home leave from MOM?

Same situation. So how? Who pays for the air ticket and do I have to pay for her salary during her home leave?

Not sure if you can help her to "safe-keep" 1 month's pay until she returns? Also not sure if employer can co-share airfare first then upon return, reimburse full fare to her? fren's maid also said her dad dying, then no news at all after gone back to her country. The maid even self-help with fren's jewelry, cash and the more expensive household stuff.

btw, heard from maid that the indo agents taught all their maids that they are "free" to go back to their country after their loan complete. (not sure if it's true for all indo agents) probably that's how they generate more income and higher salary.

But the thing is if I pay for her air ticket first does it means that after she complete her bond I do not need to pay for another ticket for her home leave?

The usual term is they are entitled for paid home leave upon renewal of contract ( check your contract).
Anyway, up to you if you want to trust her or not. It is best if you do not allow advanced pay or loan as well as hold on the salary for that month(reimburse her upon the completion of contract - a trick taught by agent). I believe some agency will tell their employers not to give advanced home leave to avoid hassle. Be prepared she will not come back.
