Yup. there are a lot of remittance agents in Peninsula Plaza. We went to one I think on the 3rd floor, yellow signboard (big shop) that sells also groceries. Basically need the other party's name (must be spelt correctly). The remittance charge is very cheap, they probably earn on the exchange rate.

Money should be available within a week or so on the other end.

My helper called the following person and I transferred the sum via internet banking. Very convenient. Don't have to travel there.

PSG Global Pte Ltd - Susan
Tel: 63387137
Mobile : 96435583
POSB Saving : 133-24147-7

Thanks all.

Just found out Western Union does it.

I will send through with WU, think safer. ;). And they can get it within same day.. That's fast..

What is the cheapest and safest method to send money back to Myanmar? Can anyone advise the procedures please?

Can we use IB to do it for our helper or use SingPost or any other method?

TIA!

refer to posts above la. Remittance via WU is quite expensive and your helper's family may not have access to one. The informal one really works and the handling fee not ex (they probably earn from the exchange rate).
