Anyone knows where I can find such repair services? The strap of ds' haversack came off & I need sewing services to stitch back the strap. I don't think the usual tailor wld be able to repair it right? The stitches on bags should be of tougher quality. Sayang to throw it away cos it's fairly new.

You can try asking tailors - some of them may stock thicker threads and needles.

Every yr I had to do some sort of haversack patching for ds's bags. He simply carried too many stuff in his bag. I have not sewn the strap b4, mainly the area below the strap - a big hole would inevitably open up by middle of each yr. I get the biggest needle and thickest thread (at least triple looped)fm those cheap bao ga liao shops.

I've tried tailors b4 - no go. The only time I managed to get prof tailoring help was when we were in Msia one time, even then it didn't come cheap.

Since yr prob is strap, it's prob more challenging.

Gd luck.

P.S I just thought of someone who hand sewn a hiking haversack buckle 4 me late last yr. She's located in Bedok. Not cheap also - buckle + workmanship cost me $35. PM me if you're interested.

Try the army market on Beach Road. There are so many of them there, but whether they want to sew for you or not is a different story.

Thanks for your replies & interesting suggestions.

The bag only cost me $30. Looks like nowadays most things are cheaper to use & throw & buy new, than to repair.

I was hoping for an easily avail repair that wld just cost me a few bucks to reuse the item again.

I would try the earlier suggestion of finding a thick needle and thread and mend it yourself. Besides those HDB shops, you can try Spotlight, but of course it will probably cost more.
