Just wanted to say that doesn't mean the maids come with working experience from Kuwait or Jordan or even Saudi is a better maid. I used to think that these ex Middle East maids are more guai cos Middle East employers are more strict. Turns out its not true.

My mum's current maid which she just employed for 1 mth only was ex Kuwait and Jordan and 36 years old. So thought she will be a matured and humble maid.

However, barely 2 weeks into working, was stunned by her bad attitude. Doesn't accept any comments from us or even allow us to tell her that she is doing the wrong thing. Cannot even ask her whether she had completed her work or not. Cannot ask her to do something out of her usual routine, cos she will black face and start mumbling. If ask her anything at all, she will black face and talk back. Then after that, she will just walk away and keep mumbling under her breath. Dunno what she is mumbling also...maybe scolding us Then her English very bad and we try speaking simple English plus mix some Malay and she still cannot understand. Then very choosy with food, refuse to eat spaghetti, macaroni, fruits or any other local food. So bad that she has constipation and complains abt stomachache..

Haiz...really damn difficult to find a decent maid these days...

Is this indo maid? I think it might be that she was running the whole household before, but she has to adapt to the new employer.

I would ask the agent to talk to her and put her in her place; and tell her that you the employer has very right to ask about her chores.

I do wonder sometimes if indo maids after working long time in Saudi/Arab countries, can they adapt to working in Chinese family in Singapore, food wise?

It's best not to employ any ex-Malaysia, ex-HK, ex-Taiwan, ex-Middle East.
Best to get newbies because no experience, nothing to compare. Though have to teach from scratch but chances are they may be more 乖. What I cannot tolerate is the comparison. Told my maid, if your previous employer is so good like you said, go back there and work.

I agree, best to choose fresh maid.

The only thing about fresh maid is language problem. And they are coming in at the same salary as experienced one.

if Indonesian maid, they have the ability to learn language fast...I mean really fast. Filipinos and Myanmar are terrible...with Myanmar maids, don't even understand how to communicate with them. with new maids, really have to hold their hands to teach them.

Fresh maids the only fear I have is that they will have culture shock about working cos they do not have any working experience...thought ex-Middle East should be ok but turns out not true...my mum brought her back to the agent to ask the agent to talk to her and she was even rude to the agent!

Keep looking down on the floor and refused to answer the agent when she was asking her questions. Even agent said she had bad attitude. Then told agent she wanted to change employer. Agent and my mum said on but she got to wait until the new replacement comes then can change. Initially she agreed to it then on the way home from the agent, she suddenly change her mind again and asked my mum not to change her...Aiyo, she is so fickle-minded! One min want to change then another min dun want to change...

I dun mind if she is capable enough to run the whole household herself...but problem is she keeps doing the wrong thing cos she didn't understand what we were talking about! So we tried correcting her mistakes and she was not happy...guess maids who are older are like that..too much pride!

I employed her to take care of my mum but my mum refused to have a maid at home.
She is with me for 2 weeks only.
She is 30 years (looks much younger) and is pleasant.

She can cook and do marketing on her own.

Actully Trimummy it doesn't mean that if your Saudi maid is rude then all will be like that .

When i was taking my maid from my agent, she did recommend to me Ex Saudi maid becos i have kids, I have taken 2 maids from the same agency and I am happy,,i can feel free to call or SMS my agent anytime,,she is not the cold type compared to the staff of many agencies i used to go too where the main concernt was money..

You need to understand the culture of Saudi people, Maids are NOT allowed to talk ,they need to keep quiet,, was there something that happened where she suddenly got rude ? It also depends on how someone will talk to the maid after all they are human, if we rude to them ,of course they will be rude to us.
