Renewing maid's contract aftrer 2 years

do you renew your maid's contract after her 1st 2 years of contract?
What do you do?
1. no contract, she just continue working
2. 1-year contract
3. 2-year contract

Didn't do a formal contract but started a fresh sheet for 2-year term for her to acknowledge receipt of new monthly salary. We did a formal contract only when we needed to renew her passport.

Is it more beneficial to employers to have a contract?

Mistral - I dunno the contract is for whose benefit but at least we got her to acknowledge monthly pay after the 1st contract expired.
Taz - Mine's a Philipinno. Don't forget the bond. If no need to renew passport, go to MOM website. Very easy to renew WP. I did it on my own for 1st renewal. Helper went to collect new WP on her own once ready.

In the renewed contract, do you give your maid any annual leave?
There is no annual leave in the 1st 2 years of contract.

For the 1st renewal, she had alternate Sundays off. 2nd renewal - every Sunday is off.

I have a filipino maid for 3 years. I got her thru direct hire, so she had no contract done up in her first year. I did it thru an agent after her first year with us, coz we went away for a trip and send her back for home leave. so her contract and WP timing is not the same year. I have not prepared a new one for her yet, will do so when she next go back for leave. For filipino, it is mandatory to have valid contract to buy the exit pass when they go for home leave and return to sg. Unless you don't plan to have her back. So i guess contract benefits more for maid than employer.

Hi, my maid contract ending in end Sep 14. I received MOM's letter on her WP renewal. Since she does not have to renew her PP, can I said that I just have to purchase the maid insurance and renew her WP? Do I need to go the Philippine embassy to fill up any forms?
