Urm... maybe you need to share in the other thread, which agency (to avoid!).

In January this year when I checked, the renewal can only be done by the agency. Cost a few hundred dollars ($300 to $400) depending on agency, and it takes 2 to 3 months (don't ask me why!). Btw, make sure the agency do ALL the paperwork which means include exit permit or something - else next time if the maid wants to go home, might have to get the maid agency to do some paperwork again!

You can google to find out more... Some agencies tell their maid that passport cost borne by the maid. You should check.

My maid renewed her passport in SG by doing it at the Philippines Embassy. U can fix an appointment and bring all the required documents there. We didn't go through any agency. Then they will email you when passport is ready and you go there to collect. Takes 4-6 weeks I think. All the info on the website.

Home leave application can also be processed there. Save the agency fees. Use the fees to pay for the passport renewal fees for your maid instead.

Hi thanks for the info, However because the maid my aunty hired was a transfer one, so the agreement that the agency give her also was the MOM one.... since the girl just worked for her less than 2 yr,,they need the agency to do it..but somehow that agency got no clue ..they told me aunty if she can do herself,, it will be very much cheaper.

My aunty bought the normal $321 insurance for the maid ,not the Phillipine bond... do we have to buy that now ?

Must we bring all this ?

Original copy of S$2,000.00 performance bond (Employer’s)
Origianl copy of S$5,000.00 performance bond (Agency)
2 original duly signed Standard Employment Contract
2 copies In-Principal Approval from the MOM
2 copies of Agency Undertaking
2 copies of Employer Undertaking
2 copies of Prepaid Ticket Advice (PTA), whats this ????
2 copies of worker’s passport
1 copy of medical insurance
1 copy of employer’s IC
1 copy of Philippine agent’s POEA license ( she was on transfer here so we don't have this ?

what a damn complication hiring filipinos,,,, my aunty should have listened to me and get an indon..

The work permit issued to the maid will only be until the Aug (expiry of passport). It us better to get the passport renewed then apply for the work permit. Else need to pay for everything again.

My maid worked for me for 10 years already. There was once we reviewed her work permit without checking her passport. The work permit issued was for last then 2 years , think it was one year only. Then We need to renew work permit again based on new passport and pay for another set of fees.

For renewal of passport, it was very easy. Don't recall bringing all those.

The renewal of Phillipine Passport is somewhat like this.

The booking dates online is about 2 mths wait-time but it depend on the online system date. After appt with embassy, takes 8 weeks before able to collect passport hence embassy has advise to renew passport 9 months before expiry. The person must wear a collar shirt n arrived 30 mins prior appt time.

The helper needs a valid embassy contract with the current employer. If she is a transfer, then her copy of contract is not valid hence has to re-make 1. First contract has to be done by an agency but renewal can be done by employer directly. The cost of the contract cum owwa, paign, etc. is about $250-$300+ depending on which agency. Embassy once given me a contact that charge abt $258 to do home leave paper all inclusive. Passport renewal online cost $120 if you do it yourself. Maid has to bring along all the paper as listed. Hence total cost about $378 excluding all transport cost n waiting time.

Renew passport n home leave paper is the same except home leave you need to buy the OEC (oversea exit certificate valid 2 mths) while passport no need. You only need to get the agency to do the contract n wat not but the passport you can do online booking yourself. The issue is the hassle to go embassy 2x and is 15-20 mins walking distance from Tanglin Mall. Most take taxis, etc. Hence agency charge more is bcos of transportation costs.

If you are renewing passport, you can't buy the OEC because you need to produce the air ticket.

There are some very important information you helper should have before arranging for the paper.

1. Helper full name
2. Helper mother & father & husband & children full name and date of birth.
3. Helper mother maiden name ( before the mother is married )
4. helper full address in Phillipine with lot / province etc clearly stated
5. Helper phillipine contact no.
6. Helper area of birth ( the place she is born)

Original copy of S$2,000.00 performance bond (if thr agency 2k. If employer do directly for renewal of embassy contract is $7k bond)
2 original duly signed Standard Employment Contract
2 copies Work permit card
2 copies of Employer Undertaking
2 copies of Prepaid Ticket Advice ( no need unless buying OEC)
2 copies of worker’s passport
1 copy of medical insurance ( the one we bought in singapore )
1 copy of employer’s IC

All the forms listed can be downloaded from embassy website.
Is not difficult to do it if have all the information etc. but rather time consuming.

The reason y the passport takes so long bcos it will be done in Manila.
Each contract is valid for 2 years only.

Dear parent,
Beware of pilipino maid. I just found out recently that maid from this country actually exchange notes about their employer and they form a group to advise fellow maid planning to look for new employer whether to work or not to work for a particular employer.

Avoid hiring the one with the name Divina JN (WP # 024860140). She was chit chating with neighbor maid when was supposed to be buying breakfast for our son. She took pictures and posted on facebook. We were informed by neighbor's maid to search her on facebook. We found out from our new maid that Divina actually called her and told her about the situation in our house.
