Hi

Is it compulsory for foreign domestic employers to provide toiletries for their maids throughout their employment?

Or employers just need to buy for their maids 1 time off toiletries when just newly arrived?

What items of the toiletries to include and what brand did you get for the maids?

I bought for mine but after a few months, she prefers to buy her own stuff with her own money.

I bought shampoo, conditioner, body foam, facial wash, for the helper. Brandwise is the usual stuff like dove, Pantene etc.

My Filipino helper likes to buy some of the Indonesian products like cream or medicated oil.

For me, other then when she first arrives, I don't buy personal items.
To me the FDW is an employee, not my child nor my slave.
So she buys her own personal stuff, of her own choosing.

I also buy these things. The maid buys it herself since she has off days.

My ex maid use skin care, sunscreen, ginseng shampoo that cost $23 a bottle, makeup.... I think it's better for maid to buy it themselves.

There is no regulation as such that we have to provide...

I use to provide for my previous maids as their salary is very low.

These days the maids are different generation, bunch of ungrateful people. Let them spend their own money.

When their salary was $250, please buy for them. Now, salary is $500, they can afford to buy the brand they like. You may get her a welcome gift pack but after used up, she gets her own.

I feel that if employers provide toiletries, maids don't appreciate.
If maids buy with their own money, even shampoo will finish slower.
Since food and accommodation is already provided, maids should pay for their own toiletries, prepaid card and their personal stuff.

I provide everything for my maids, including phone cards, as a token for not giving me problems.

As per the contract, we only need to provide food and enough sleep. All the others are their own expenses.

Unless the work performance is satisfactory, I only provide food and sleep.
