Appendicitis surgery for my maid

With most families being dual-income-with-kids, outsourcing home cleaning and home economics to domestic helpers is almost a way of life for Singaporeans. Come in and discuss issues pertaining to maids and home management.

Appendicitis surgery for my maid

Postby kaisuparents » Tue May 26, 2015 10:20 am

Hi,
My maid underwent appendicitis surgery at her hometown a year back. She used to get pain at that place on and off sometimes. Since 1 week she has sharp pricking pain at that place and has loss of appetite. Could it be appendicitis again? Can we check in polyclinic with CT scan? Or better to send her back to her country? How much would the checkup cost here any idea?
Thanks

Maids are foreigners. They are not entitled to any subsidies even if they visit polyclinics. CT scan for private patients at govt hospitals will cost around $1k if i m not wrong.

You may be able to claim insurance (medical insurance is mandatory). Can check with the insurance company. Though....pre-existing conditions may be excluded.
