Renew helper from the Philippines (before contract ends)

Hi all

I am trying to figure out how to renew the contract for my helper from the Philippines but really confused by all the dates.

On her work permit, it's stated that the date of application is 27 August 2014 but the date of issue is 24 October 2014 (which is the date she arrived at our house). There is a gap between the two dates as our agent had some trouble then getting her into Singapore (due to Philippines side some problems) In the standard contract , the date is stamped 22 Sept 2014.

so does her contract with us end on 24 October 2016 or 27 August 2016? (as her work permit is expiring on 1 Sept 2016)

Anyways, we agreed that she could go home for her home leave on 3 Sept 2016 and come back on 20 Sept 2016.

My question is when she applies for her EOC, would there be any problem as if she goes back home leave in Sept, and assuming her contract with us starts on 24 October 2014 the date she arrived at our house, then her 2 year contract is not up yet when she goes home leave.

Not sure if I made any sense. Thanks for your patience!

Thanks for all help in advance too.

follow the expiry on the Work Permit at all times. Renew in time, before the expiry of her Work Permit. This will allow her to stay and come back into Singapore, on the SG side.

For Phil side, you best check with the agent or embassy.

Hi! Miumiu2014,

(1) It's advisable to check validity of your domestic helper's passport before renewal as new passport can be collected only 6-week or more after submission of application to Embassy of The Philippines (as stated in your details : date of issue - 24.10.2014, date of expiry - 1.9.2016, there is possibility that your helper's passport will expire a month after 1.9.2016).

You need to provide verified standard employment contract (validity up to 21.9.2016) and OWWA membership to apply for new passport. Otherwise, you need to send standard employment contract to embassy for authentication and verification as well as to apply for OWWA membership.

Authentication : S$42.50, verification : S$17, OWWA membership : S$42, renewal of passport : S$102

You need to prepare the following for authentication of standard employment contract (you don't need to send contract for authentication if you've done so in 2014):

(a) 2 sets (original) standard employment contract (must be signed by employer and domestic helper) (b) 2 copies of Undertaking of an Employer (original) (c) 2 copies of work permit (d) 2 copies of the existing passport (e) 1 copy of employer's NRIC (f) S$7,000 performance bond to be issued to Embassy of The Philippines (you may get from same insurance which you get security bond and medical insurance for your helper)(original) (g) 1 copy of your helper's medical insurance (as submitted to MOM)

(2) There are three dates stated in domestic worker's work permit namely, date of application, date of issue and date of expiry.

You may call same insurance company (which you get the existing security bond and medical insurance) to get new security bond and medical insurance for your domestic helper before renewal of work permit (you are to allow at least one working day for insurance company to transmit online to MOM about details of new security bond and medical insurance).

You shall renew domestic worker's work permit before date of expiry stated in work permit
via mom.gov.sg ->eService->work permit transaction for domestic helpers and confinement nannies (you shall receive letter from MOM about renewal of work permit at least 5-week before work permit expires).

New work permit card will be delivered within 4 working days to the given address after approval.

(3) The stated date in your domestic helper's standard employment contract was on 22.9.2014. As such, the new employment contract shall take effect from 22.9.2016 till 21.9.2018. You may download standard employment contract from website of Embassy ->www.philippine-embassy.org.sg->Forms->Labor Forms->Checklist/Forms for Authenticated Employment Contract

After preparing, new employment contract is to be sent to embassy for authentication and verification again (repeat steps 1a-1g).

(4) Before your helper leaves for home country, she needs to apply for OEC. You may book appointment online via embassy's website. Please note that validity of OEC is only 60 days and to ensure it's still valid when your helper travels back to Singapore.

You may obtain further details via embassy's website.

Hi! Miumiu2014,

Kindly ensure OEC is still valid on the date that your helper travels back from Philippines to Singapore. Otherwise, she will not be allowed to leave Philippines.
