Nvr believe these agents. Replacement tactic is just to trap you with them so they can continue to squeeze more. I’ve moved away fr them since loosing >$10K believing they’ll provide replacements. Now I learnt to hire direct & interview, hire & train myself. Abilities can be trained but attitudes cannot be trained. So I focus on identifying good characters, attitude & make attempt to select based on potential in learning. So far, I’ve got peace in my household for >12 years.
Didn't know the situation is so bad. The agency is JAG employment services.
What should we do next ?
lodge a complaint to Association of Employment Agencies (Singapore) ? & kiss the $6k deposit goodbye ? :imdrowning:
From what I read, seems like complaining to MOM is of no use and they are siding the maid.

Thanks !

Typically, MOM wld require all FDW applies for std FDW insurance to cover basic but I always ensure i make purchase of such FDW insurance to incl the runaway deposit, even with renewal of my current help for 3rd contract. That way, I've peace of mind that I don’t hv to be shocked & hv to fork out $5K out of the blue.

MOM do not actively ‘side helpers’ but as these are relationships & involves cross border diplomacies, it’ll be great hussle to manage if every eyer lodge reports of their helpers’ misbehaviour or wrongdoings, unless u hv hard evidence of criminal acts. What u can do is to add on to the numerous bad record with MOM, if she had taken anything or did physical harm to yr family.

How did u find out abt her past bad records? Did the agents not inform you? We always ensure that we go to MOM online to hv a rough sense of the helper we are interested to hire & try to make informed decisions.

Unfortunately too, the Association of Employment Agencies is not well regulated to take agencies into task except to review & represent the interests of Agencies, not employers.

yes they can.
I u’stand there are some changes & the helper has to get a PVN or a PJ document to exit? Any idea what are these documents about or where do they go get one? What is the difference btwn the two?

Hi, you do not need to worry about that. One is passport for visit, and one is passport for jobs. They can settle this for you. no worries.

Thanks for all the replies. Now we are just trying to close the case with MOM, forget about the $5000 and just want to get maid help asap. We called MOM but just straight to their voice mail. I just sent an email, hope to hear some resolution soon. Thanks guys !

Hi there. Full-time working mom, looking for transfer helper, mainly to help with childcare and some household work.

Please let me know if anyone is letting go of helper. OK to wait till September.

Thanks in advance
My helper just transferred to another employer last year after my Dad passed. We were her first employer since she came direct from Indonesia. I would say she has been a great help and is generally hardworking. Towards the end of her employment when my Dad was not around, she will slack a bit but I guess that's is still acceptable since we do not have that much things for her to do.

My Myanmar helper WP expiry on Oct 22. Her passport will be expiry on Sep 22. Agency told me currently not able to renew her passport due to their country gov close this services since Feb. But the agent told me is not a problem to renew her WP even her passport is expiry. My worries is should I renew her if her passport is expiry? If she don't have a valid passport, she not able go back to hometown. But if she not renew with me, she can go back before her passport expiry. Any advise? Thanks.
