I would pack only the following :D

1. Water bottle
2. English Textbook
3. Chinese Textbook
4. Maths Textbook
5. Story book
6. Notepad
7. Colour pencils
8. Lunch box / sandwiches

Tada .... that's all.

The teacher will inform the child what to bring for submission and will probably handout the class timetable as well. First couple of days are usually very lax.

Actually, the teachers should be lenient enough on the 1st day of school not to reprimand the kids who have not brought books required. 1 important thing to bring : a notebook for the kids to write down what the teachers need them to bring the following days. They should be asked to bring their health booklet, files, exercise books or workbooks etc, a few items each day.

Can any experienced parents advised (based on past experiences) what their P1 kid actually brought and used during their first few days in school?

Some people said that that the first day may not have actual teaching, so it is more important to bring workbooks as the teachers need to keep them.

I'll probably packed for my boy...
1) waterbottle
2) pencil case
3) 1A chinese workbook, 1A mathworkbook
4) 1A chinese text and 1A math text
5) note book
6) most importantly....Report book for school's keeping.

:D

I won't pack in the workbook and all. It will be fine for the kids to bring whatever books the teacher wants to collect on the next school day, and they will usually tell the kids what they need, that's why they need the notepad to take notes. First day of school is usually class / teacher orientation and getting to know the teacher's rules :)

Single Session... need advise

Postby 2bbtang » Mon Dec 22, 2008 5:22 pm

Hi!

My boy will be in Single session. from 7.40am to 1.30pm.

What will you prepare?

1) Breakfast... do you wake your kid even earlier for him/her to have breakfast before going to school? If so, what time will that be?

2) I'm concerned, as my boy don't really have appetite to eat especially so early in the morning.

3) I understand from the school that they will have recess around 9am +/-
and since single session last till 1.30pm.. I'm very very concerned my boy will be over hungry by then!!!! Any mom care to share for your case?

Many thanks in advance

Hi 2bbtang,

Your concern about the breakfast is also one of my worry too. my son also in the single session and the school bus will pick him up around 615-630am, which means that he has to wake up about 5.30am to get ready The recess time will be from 10 -10.30am.....

Breakfast is very important for the day...... , so is there any mom can advise us .

Thanks
