I don't think its easy. From what I heard, normally by the end of phase 2A1, all the slots are taken up. By the way, do you know the difference between ACS Primary and ACS Junior?

Hmmm ... i not sure about making donations.. although I did heard from my colleague that if someone were to sponsor for lets say a new computer lab with about 20 stations, it might do the trick.. However, I do believe schools like acs are pretty well to do with their strong rich powerful backing from their alumni and parents of the kids. so maybe it would not work for schools like acs. Hopefully Chief Kiasu can shed some light on this matter.

if u don't mind, can you tell me what are the differences between the two schools? tks

OK... from what I know:
ACS Primary School is the original ACS Primary school that kept moving around until it finally moved back to the Barker Road campus together with the ACS (Secondary) School.

ACS Junior is in the Peck Hay road, but will be moving to Winstedt Road (where Monk's Hill Secondary School used to be) by the end of 2008. It is also affiliated with ACS (Secondary) School.

ACS Primary is the one with the GEP programme, and so should be the "better" of the 2.

Anglo-Chinese School (Primary) in Singapore, is the original primary school of the [ACS] family (est in 1887) , located at the Barker Road campus adjacent to the ACS (Barker Road) block. ACS Junior is the other ACS primary school (established in 1951) and is currently located at Peck Hay Road but will be relocating to a new building along Winstedt Road from Jan 2009. Students from both schools have the option to move on to the ACS Secondary Schools with affiliation favours.

As ACS Primary is a more established school, it is naturally the more popular of the 2 primary school and there are more old boys too. Thus, it is much tougher to enter into ACSP than ACS Junior but both schools are much sought after by parents.

I understand too that ACS does not offer PV. So the only way you can apply under 2B phase is either through church affiliation or as an active community leader.

Here's some info regarding the Pr 1 registration in 2006 & 2007 if anyone's interested

2006 Stats
ACS Primary
Phase 2B- 14 places after Phase 2A . 18 applicants, all accepted as all were within the 1km distance category

Phase 2C - 14 places. 25 applicants. Balloting was conducted only for those within the 1km proximity.

ACS Junior
Phase 2B- 57 places available after Phase 2A. 110 applicants for this phase, All under 1km proximity accepted. Balloting was conducted for those 1km - 2km.

Phase 2C- 57 places, 74 applicants, all 74 accepted as all fell within the 1 km distance category

2007 Stats
ACS Primary
Phase 2B - 22 places after Phase 2A. All who applied got in as they were all within 1km proximity to the school.

Phase 2C - 22 places. 27 applicants, Balloting had to be conducted for applicants within 1km (there were 23 applicants that were within 1km). All applicants within 2km and beyond 2km were unsuccessful

ACS Junior
2B - 65 places, All 14 applicants within 1km proximity got in. Remaining 51 places with determined by balloting for those within 1km-2km.

2C - 65 places. 89 Registered. All 54 applicants within 1km proximity got in. Balloting was conducted for the 16 applicants within the 1km-2km proximity and 11 were successful. All applicants beyond 2km were unsuccessful

Note : I got this info by calling the schools.

Just to share an update.

2008 2B Phase for

ACS Primary (Barker Rd).
Anglo Chinese School (Primary) has places only for children who have registered in the school and are living within 1km of the school. Therefore, children living outside 1 km of the school are unsuccessful in their registration. No balloting will be conducted in Anglo Chinese School (Primary).

ACS Junior
After Phase 2A, left 61 for Phase 2B.
Balloting required for those > 2km.
There are a total of 49 registered who are more than >2km. And there are only 27 vacancies available.
Out of the 27, there are a pair of twins. Thus, if one of the twin is been selected, the other twin will also be in naturally.

I'm so happy that my boy is in!!!!! Butterfly knots when they are doing the balloting!!! Phew! Thank GOD!!!!
