CHIJ Our Lady of the Nativity did well last year with at least one student scoring above 275 in PSLE (that's 25 points from perfect score, which no one has attained as yet). However, that is the first time the school produced such a student. If they can reproduce the same feat this year, it would confirm that this is no fluke.

Other good schools in/near Hougang are:
Hougang Primary SchoolHoly Innocents Primary School
Monfort Junior School
Nan Chiau Primary School
North Spring Primary School
Punggol Primary School
Rosyth School
Sengkang Primary School
Xinmin Primary School
Xinhua Primary SchoolYio Chu Kang Primary School

Hihi, anyone know what documents do they require you to produce for Phase 2A2 ? There are so many CHIJs in Singapore. How would they know which CHIJ was your alma mater ?

CHIJ OLN has traditionally been a very strong performer in PSLE, performing well above national averages for all 4 languages. It is not as strong in math and science compared to the top tier schools, but is still above national averages for these subjects.

It is relatively weak in aesthetics and sports compared with other schools.

[Toa Payoh] CHIJ Katong or CHIJ Toa Payoh

Postby mamapea » Wed Jun 11, 2008 12:58 pm

As P1 is drawing near, wondering which one to decide CHIJ Katong or CHIJ Toa Payoh.

I heard that CHIJ Katong has better PSLE results & I'm an old girl so can get into Phase 2A2. For CHIJ Toa Payoh, advantage is affilitation to the secondary school. My mom lives within 1 km so can also get in. We now live about equal distance to both schools.

Anyone offer a vote?

Hihi, how does the school know you are an old gal of CHIJ Katong and not CHIJ Toa Payoh ? If based on report book, does it not all look the same ?

Comparing these 2 CHIJs is almost like trying to compare a pair of identical twins. They are very similar in academic performance. Both schools excel in English, Malay and Tamil languages, but have sub-par performance in Chinese. They both perform very well in math and science too.

I would give a slight edge to CHIJ Katong for its strong focus in character development and sports.

Actually on the cover of the report book the states CHIJ, Opera Estate. That is the school that I was from but the school has since merged with CHIJ Katong years ago.
