help needed to solve this qn

Postby ksoh3000 » Sat Jun 15, 2013 1:04 pm

Mrs Lim brought a packet of balloons for her students. If she gives 4 balloons to each student, she would have 26 balloons left. If she gives 6 balloons to each student, she would be short of 8 balloons.
(a) How many students were there in Mrs Lim's class?

Besides algebra method, what is the other alternative method to solve this qn >. My child do not understand algebra method.

Thank You

Hi

Here’s an example for a similar question.

When students are able to understand the logic behind the solution, MD might not be necessary.

Another question for your kid to practise.

Miss Lim bought a packet of sweets to distribute to her class. If each child gets 3 sweets, she would be left with 30 sweets. If each child gets 4 sweets, she would need 5 more sweets.
a) How many children are there in the class
b) How many sweets did Miss Lim have at first.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes
