Broken English in composition

Postby Pignite » Thu Apr 26, 2012 11:53 am

Hi all,

Can i check if it is alright to be writing "broken" english at P4 level in compo writing?

My DS is reading widely but when he write ...(OMG... ) His english coach tell me that i should not interfere because as parents our comments about his writing become personal attack...

Not sure if i should listen to the coach... :skeptical:

For compos, his grammar mistakes need to be corrected, but if it's an informal piece of writing, like a journal, just let him be.

If the coach's advise to you is to step back, then is the coach correcting him? Assuming that the coach's stand is that correcting of mistakes should be left to the coach.

Usually, children write in broken English because they speak in broken English. Try working on the spoken English too.

Mrs Wong

Broken English is sometimes we as adult the way we speak our English also affects the child. Environment is very important.

I send both gals to Speech & Drama comes with Creative Writing for the past 2 years. No regrets. Gals not only have confidence, they speak good English and was introduced many good English books by the teacher.

Good Teacher is a very important person in everyone's life. Good teacher will influence a child's life. A can't be bother teacher will not able to have good influence over the child.

Both gals can write well without me sending them for another Creative Writing class.

My 2nd gal is a special child yet she can writes rather well for her compo. I'm so impressed.

Hope my sharing helps.

Hi all

http://www.lovekids.com.sg/lovekids/

My gals are in P3 & P4. Hubby has no intention to stop because he sees the good result on my 2nd gal especially. A girl who used to talk very softly to the extend can't even hear her.

Her new self is so different so different.........words just can't express the gratitude the teacher has put on so much effort to help her overcome her fear.

Hope your boy will enjoy the class.
