Thanks for pointing this out. I see where I made the mistake. Correction in bluealfretztay wrote:"Alice paid $150 less than Charlie."Ender wrote:A : B+C : Total => 1 : 5 : 6kasa7 wrote:Hi,

Need help with the model for this question.

Alice, Benny and Charlie shared to buy a present. Alice paid 1/5 of the total amount paid by Benny and Charlie. Benny paid 1/8 of the amount paid by Alice and Charlie. Alice paid $150 less than Charlie.

How much did Benny pay?

What is the cost of the present?

Thank you.

B : A+C : Total => 1 : 8 : 9

This is a constant total question. So we make the total the same. The total for the above 2 ratios represent the cost of the present.

A : B+C : Total => 3 : 15 : 18

B : A+C : Total => 2 : 16 : 18

C = (A+C) - A = 16u - 3u = 13u

C- A = 13u -3u = 150

u= 50 <= Mistake... u should be 15 from 150/10.

a) Benny paid = 2u = 2(15) = $30

b) Cost of present = 18u = $270

C : 13u -> 13 x 50 = 650

A : 900 - 650 - 100 = 150

650 - 150 = 500

Thus, I believe the answers are incorrect as the above statement is not satisfied.

need help to solve this problem.

Q) Mrs Lim bought 3 similar T-shirts and 2 similar dresses for $306. If she had bought 2 such T-shirts and 3 such dresses, she would need to pay $81 more. Find the cost of a dress.

### Re: Q&A - P5 Math

D-T = $81 => D=T+81

3T + 2D = 306

3T + 2(T+81) = 306

3T + 2T + 162 =306

5T = 144

T = 28.8

D = T + 81 = 109.8

3T + 2D = 306

3T + 2(T+81) = 306

3T + 2T + 162 =306

5T = 144

T = 28.8

D = T + 81 = 109.8

3 x T + 2 x D = $306happy to be mum wrote:need help to solve this problem.

Minus 1 T Add 1 D = +$81

So we just convert all to Dresses, (meaning -3 T-shirts , +3 Dresses)

0 x T + 5 x D = $306 + ($81 x 3)

5D = $549

D = $109.80
