Mr Ho fried 1/5 of his squids and had 3/4 Kg of squids left. How many kg of squids did he fry?

4/5 of squids -> 3/4kg
1/5 of squids -> 3/4 divided by 4 = 3/4*1/4 = 3/16kg

Let's try; one possible method:

Look at the denominators; 9 and 14.
9 x 14 = 126

Let the tailor have 126 units (or 126 u) of cloth at first.

She used 2/9 of the cloth to make dresses.
She used 28 u of the cloth to make dresses.

She had 98 u left.

She used 3/14 of the remaining cloth to make trousers.
She used 21 u of the cloth to make trousers.

She had 77 u left.

She bought another 126m of cloth and then found out that she had as much cloth as she had at first.

77 u + 126m → 126 u

126m → 49 u

49 u → 126m

1 u → (126/49) m

126 u → 126 x (126/49) m → 324 m

The tailor had 324 m of cloth at first.

This is a "Double-Ratio" question:
you can use the "Advanced Model Method" or "Bags and Boxes" method to solve ALL (100% of) such P5 maths problems.

You can also use the more algebraic version of "u and p."

This is a "Double-Ratio" question:
you can use the "Advanced Model Method" or "Bags and Boxes" method to solve ALL (100% of) such P5 maths problems.


Let Veronica put her $91 into 1 Bag and 4 Boxes.

$91 → 1 Bag + 4 Boxes ..... (Row 1)


Let Benny put his $28 into 1 Bag and 1 Box.

$28 → 1 Bag + 1 Box ........ (Row 2)

Veronica spent 1 Bag of money, and had 4 Boxes left.
Benny also spent 1 Bag of money, and had 1 Box left.


(Row 1) - (Row 2)

($91 - $28) → (1 Bag - 1 Bag) + (4 Boxes - 1 Box)

($63) → (0 Bag) + (3 Boxes)

3 Boxes → $63
1 Box → $21

Benny had $21 in the end.

Mr Lee had a sum of money.On Monday,he spent 1/5 of his money and then lost a $2 note.On Tuesday,he spent 1/3 of his remaining money on 3 identical bags of rice.On wednesday,he bought another 4 such bags of rice.He had $21.60 left in the end.Find the sum of money he had at first.
