60% of the students at Keng Academy were boys last year. There were 1200 girls last year. This year, after some new students join, the number of girls increased by 35% while the number of boys increased to 2580. Find the percentage increase in the number of students.

Thank you so much !

Thank you in advance !

Hi Jerico,

One possible method:

There were 1200 girls last year.

There were 1800 boys last year.

There were 3000 students last year.

There are (1200 x 1.35 =) 1620 girls this year.

There are 2580 boys this year.

There are 4200 students this year.

Percentage increase in the number of students

→ [ (4200 - 3000) / 3000 ] x 100% =

**???**

Can you continue from here?

Hope this helps.

Cheers
