## Q&A - P5 Math

### Re: Q&A - P5 Math

Hi, would appreciate if someone can help with this question. Thanks in advance.

Mr. Tan had some $5 and $10 notes. The ratio of the number of $5 notes to the number of $10 notes was 1:4. He exchanged twelve pieces of $10 notes for $5 notes. The ratio of $5 notes to $10 notes then became 1:2.

How much money did Mr. Tan have?

### Re: Q&A - P5 Math

HI,

Can someone pls help with the following questions :-

Q1 : After Mr Tan had sold 1/4 of his apples and Mr Lee had sold 3/5 of his apples, they realised that they had the same number of apples left. They had a total of 1428 apples left. How many apples did Mr Lee sell ?

Q2 : Justin had 20% more stamps than Firdaus. Karthik had 40% fewer stamps than Justin. After Karthik bought 460 more stamps, he had twice as many stamps as Justin and Firdaus. How many stamps did they have at first ?

Thank you in advance for your kind assistance.

### Re: Q&A - P5 Math

Hi. In response to question 13,

The solution is as followed:

Assume the start is 100%

2011 - 100%

2012 - 115% (increase by 15%)

2013 - 108.1% (6% x 2012, 94\100 x 115%)

so the increase is only for 2011 to 2013

Therefore, 108.1% - 100% = 8.1%

8.1% = 81

100% = 81/8.1 x 100 = 1000

1000+81 = 1081

The solution is as followed:

Assume the start is 100%

2011 - 100%

2012 - 115% (increase by 15%)

2013 - 108.1% (6% x 2012, 94\100 x 115%)

so the increase is only for 2011 to 2013

Therefore, 108.1% - 100% = 8.1%

8.1% = 81

100% = 81/8.1 x 100 = 1000

1000+81 = 1081

Yes, answer given was $1350. Can you please explain? Thanks.

1 : 4

+24 -12

1p. : 2p

1u + 24 = 1p

4u - 12 = 2p

4u - 12 = 2( 1u + 24 )

4u - 2u = 48 + 12

U= 30

Total : 30 ($5) + 120 ($10) = $1350
