New here, need help on these 3 questions.
1)
Mary and Jane had a total of $850. after Jane spent 1/4 of her money and Mary spent 1/2 of her money, both had an equal amount of money left.
Find the amount of money Jane had at first. [Ans: $340]
2)
Ali had $270 more than Bala. Ali spent 4/5 of his money and Bala spent 3/4 of his money. In the end, Bala had twice as many money as what Ali left.
Find the amount of money Ali had at first. [Ans: $450]
3)
Sam and Martin have some cookies each. If Sam gives Martin 32 cookies, both of them will have the same number of cookies. If Martin give Sam 18 cookies, the number of cookies Sam has to the number of cookies Martin has will be 6 : 1.
How many cookies do both boys have in all? [Ans: 140 cookies]
Thanks in advance

Hi Bearbearian,

here's my solution to your 2nd question:

Note that I've changed the question from "in the end, Bala has twice as Ali..." to "in the end Ali had twice as much as Bala...." because this way it'll tally with the answer given :D

Hope this helps! thanks

First of all, thank you for the solution on the 3rd question but on the 2nd question, I'm not clear on it.

I do not get the "1 1/2 unit = $54", could you explain on this please. :scratchhead:

It's ok, I'll just have to draw the model step by step for better understanding.

Thank you for the time you spent helping.
