Hi! Can anyone share a study schedule for their P5 child? I’m wondering if my child is spending too little time revising as he spends about 2 hours on homework each day.

My boy:
- from P5 SA2 to P6 MYE: overall improved by 1 AL point
- from P6 MYE to P6 prelim: total AL no change (individual subjects fluctuated up and down respectively)
- from P6 prelim to PSLE: overall improved by 3 AL points

Hi everyone! I took the PSLE in 2021, and to be honest, other than Math and English listening comprehension, the rest of the papers were actually pretty easy compared to the papers in my school!

I noticed there's a pattern, every odd year is Math paper that is harder than Science, and for every even year, Science paper is harder than Math.

Language paper is usually quite okay, English and Chinese comprehension was quite straightforward for me!
HCL was also average, neither easy nor hard.

I've made a AL6 improvement from Primary 5 overall grades to PSLE, P5 was the hardest year for me, but once you adjust to the standards, it will get easier :)

It's important to make sure your child's foundation is strong, and to make sure that they use the correct study methods!

The greatest regret I had was studying passively, cause I was more prone to suffering from burnouts, and my results didn't always reflect my effort.

Instead, study methods like blurting, spaced repetition, feynman, mind maps and practice really helps!
The love of reading will help a lot, my grammar and vocabulary was stronger compared to my peers because I loved to read since P1. Once you read, you will realise that your ear can instantly "tell" you the correct answer esp for the grammar section.

Past year papers also helps, otherwise the only time they expose themselves to exam standards are during exams or when they are doing practice papers provided by their school, which is usually too late since they only get these practices near their exam dates.

Tuition can also help, it improved my Math by 2 ALs, English by 2 ALs and Chinese by 1 AL. HCL tuition also pulled me from a 52 to 70 in 6 months!

Goals can also help, so make sure that your child has certain achievable goals to reach (eg. get AL 12 for prelims etc)

All the best!

There is no 2022 version. MOE ceased producing even the PDF version last year. Our 2022 PSLE kids and parents were directed to School Finder and other sources to check school data. Official MOE link here:

https://www.moe.gov.sg/secondary/s1-posting

“Note: With the availability and easy access to online information about the S1 posting process and secondary schools, we have discontinued the printing of the information booklet on secondary schools from 2022.”

Entry is via admission test and interview, although hearsay for the 3 local international schools, the seat is conditional upon minimum AL20 for PSLE:
