A shopkeeper sold an equal number of shirts each week.
After 4 weeks, she had 5/7 of her shirts left.
After 7 weeks, she had 42 shirts left.
What was the total number of shirts she sold for the 11 weeks ?

Kindly help. Tks in adv !

Nathan read 25 pages of a book in the morning.in the afternoon, he read 1/4 of the remaining pages of the book.he read the remaining 1/3 of the book at night. how many pages were there in the book?
I take it as after he read 25 pages, and then 1/4 of the remaining, he is left with 1/3 of the book, which he completed it at night.

i.e total page-25 - (1/4 (total pages-25)) = 1/3 of total pages.

Pls help for the following question :-

Q : Alvin and Gregory each wanted to buy a pen but did not have enough money.
Alvin needed $2.80 more while Gregory needed $2.20 more.
If they combined their money and buy only 1 pen, they would still be short of $1.70.
How much money did Alvin have ?

Thank you !

Thank you !
A+$2.80 = Pen
G+$2.20 = Pen
A+G+$1.70 = Pen

Take note that highlight in red are equal

G+$1.70 = $2.80
G= $1.10

Pen = $1.10 + 2.20 = $3.30

Alvin has $3.30 - $2.80 = $0.50

After 4 weeks she is left wih 5/7 or 10/14,
That mean she sold 4/14 in 4 weeks

One week she sold 1/14

7 weeks she would have sold 7/14, with 7/14 remaining,

7/14=> 42
1/14 =>6
11 weks she sold 11/14 => 66 shirts

Let the amount of money that Alvin have be x and the amount of money needed to buy the pen be y.
y - x = 2.80
2.80 = 2.20 + 0.60
y - x - 0.60 = 2.20
x + (x + 0.60) = y - 1.70
x + 0.60 + 1.70 = y - x
x + 2.30 = 2.80
x = 0.5

Let the pages in the book be x.
Morning = 25
Afternoon = 1/4 (x - 25) = 1/4 x - 25/4
Night = 1/3 (1/4 (x - 25)) = 1/12 x - 25/12
25 + 1/4 x - 25/4 + 1/12 x - 25/12 = x
x - 1/4 x - 1/12 x = 25 - 25/4 - 25/12
2/3 x = 50/3
x = 25
