### Re: Q&A - PSLE Math

Hi, pls help on the following:

Mandy and Rani went shopping with a total sum of $219. Mandy spent twice as much as Rani. Mandy had half as much money left as Rani. The amount of money that Rani had left was $8 more than what she had spent. How much money did Rani have at first?

M (----u-----)(----u-----)(--u/2---)(4) [left =1/2(u+8)]

R (----u-----)(----u-----)(8)

--<-spent--><--left------->

Their total is 219.

4 1/2u + 12 -> 219

9/2u -> 207

u-> 46

**Hence Rani has 2u+8 -> 2(46)+8 = $100 at first.**

Total pupils in the beginning =>100u

boys = >40u

girls = > 60u

Remaining boys => 0.75 X 40u = 30u

Rwmaining girls => 0.9 X 60u = 54u

Total remaining => 30u + 54u = 84u

Percentage of remaining=> 84u/100u X 100 = 84% ##

13)

(43+∠CDE) + (48 +∠DCE) = 180

∠CDE + ∠DCE = 180 - 43 - 48 = 89

(∠CDE + ∠DCE) + ∠CED = 180

89 + ∠CED = 180

∠CED = 180 - 89 = 1̶0̶1̶ 91##

### Re: Q&A - PSLE Math

The big square is 19x19, and can be cut into 5 smaller squares of the same size. Each triangle is actually the same size of the inner small square. So the area of the small square is 19x19/5 = 72.2. So the side of the small square is sqrt(72.2)=8.49cm. To the nearest cm, should be 8cm.
