### Re: Q&A - PSLE Math

Using equal fractions method :Sruthi wrote: please help with this question

3/10 volume of tank = 1/4 volume of cylinder

3/10 volume of tank = 3/12 volume of cylinder

So,

Volume of cylinder → 12u

Volume of tank →10u

Since volume of cylinder is 10m³ more than volume of tank,

2u → 10m³

Volume of tank → 10m³ x 5 = 50m³

.. I believe you can work out the height of the tank from here.

cheers.

2) Mr Cai was traveling from City X to City Y. After completing 2/7 of the journey, He passed a lorry traveling in the same direction. The lorry was traveling in the same direction. The lorry was traveling at an average speed of 70km/h. After overtaking the lorry, Mr Cai took another 3h to get to his destination, while the lorry was still 65km away from city Y. A) find the distance between the two cities. B) if the lorry left city X at 10.30am, what time will it arrive at city Y?

Good Afternoon.

As in any questions on Speed, it helps with a simple diagram to show the relationships between the various parties.

For part (a), apply the formula (DST triangle) taught in school to get the distance covered by the lorry in 3h.

For part (b), once again apply the formula to find the taken by the lorry.

Please refer to the slide I’ll leave it to your kid to work out the rest of the details.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes

Karen had twice as many marbles as before after getting 60 fromDragon Flame wrote:

Paula and Rina.

That means Karen originally had 60 marbles.

Paula had 40% more than Karen.

60 x 1.4 = 84

Paula had 84 marbles at first.

sqrt(225) = 15 【length of square】Sruthi wrote: please help with this question

b: the breath of the rectangle

b+1.2b --> (11/6) * (2*15) = 55

b --> 25

1.2*b*b --> 750 【area of rectangle : 750cm^2】
