Abolition of PSLE scores begins with current P5 in 2014?

Postby iloveaaa » Tue Feb 18, 2014 12:20 pm

Dear all,
I was told by a parent with a P5 child in a Bedok school that the current P5 will be the first batch to have no PSLE scores printed on their result slip (only grades). Can someone please verify this? According to her, a letter has been issued to the parents and she had a word with the Form teacher and he confirmed it too. I am waiting for her to show me the letter.

However I couldn't find any press release on this.

Any ideas?

I'm ok if only show grades. O and A levels also only just show grades.

Wonder how would the COP for sec schools be like in the future? Will it be similar format as the JCs, single to double digits?

To add on, it is all possible cos 2016 is election? I am anxious to find out more cos my boy is in P4. Will pop the champagne and rejoice if that's really true!

In the end, moe still has their scores down to the last decimals when allocating them to respective secondary schools. The pressure to do their bestest still there. 4A* will not guarantee a place at RGS still..

Schools will know how the child fared (in terms of T score). Students will only see grades like A*, A, B, etc. Basically students will agar agar know how they did based on the schools they get in.

Is it just not showing the T-scores but the allocation of Sec school will still remain the same, base on T-scores right down to the decimal points, or are they revamping the whole thing?

If it is the former, I will not rejoice, all they are doing is keeping parents in the dark. In fact it will make choosing the sec schools a little more difficult. 4As T-score can have a pretty big range.

If it is the latter, need to know what are the changes.
