If I had the ability I would have sent my children overseas for o and a levels. It's easier to ace their O and As. No resources mean don't dream about overseas dream school, dream about local dream schools.

You have exposed another problem.

Local Uni here have too many places allocated to foreigners in order to achiever higher ranking internationally at the expense of local lao bai Xin who had no choice but to look overseas contributing to other countries' economy and risking not returning to SG

Further more, the range of courses available locally also do not keep pace with demographic development here, resulting in million and million of dollars draining overseas. Policy makers reading this should know what I am referring to!

Meanwhile...

A national education is in order, aka brain washing for everyone to recognise that not everyone in the population is uni inclined and holding lower qualification not doing glamorous job is not the end of the world.

But hard to get buy in

It boils down to this : plumbers and electricians are all foreigners.

The sewage line got problem and the overseas plumbers are having holidays ... got to bear with the stench; or the power trip on the night and the electrician say "sorry aunty I am in KL" .,, and you wonder why he so KL.....we need national education on essential services need not be glamorous but essential and meaningful in life too, not just investment bankers who are sometime crooks !
