I was also thinking whether there's a need to buy other schools' prelim papers but DH beat me to it as he just went ahead to buy them yesterday! $15 per subject and $45 for 4 subjects.
Selective schools...selective questions. If can't finish the papers, can keep for younger daughter?
Not value for money!
$45 only for a few selected schools. Ya, can share with DD2, who will be taking PSLE next year.

But I might be tempted to buy again, the 2017 SA1/SA2 pile will be for DD2 as it covers more schools and will be more comprehensive.

Hi Lee yl,
I paid $80 for 3 subjects last year. We did manage to complete quite a few schools. For the very challenging ones, hubby went through the questions with daughter...just to show her how to solve.
Some schools set terribly tough questions. I didn't want to stress her...so just skipped them.
But she did MCQ for most of the science papers.

1 week before psle, we switched to specimen exam papers at the back of the assessment book...basically went through the mistakes made. More relaxed mode by then. She was also showing signs of fatigue. So 2 days before psle English, it was mainly to calm her down by allowing her to listen to music, keeping her at home to relax. Eat mostly home cooked meals.

It's 24 days before the first written paper. Sorry for stressing parents. Hope the schools will slow down and not stress the students too much. There is LC. All the best.

The days leading to PSLE passed swiftly. Besides the weekly sports and dance commitments, I recalled DD doing practice papers assigned by schools Everyday. Weekend go dance and sports remaining time just read science guide, that's all I remembered cos honestly the rest of subjects not much content knowledge to absorb

Agree with you that some papers contain ridiculously hard questions. Left last 20+ days. If child can't solve, we do it once for them to see. Scolding and pressuring at the last min will hit their confidence level, it's a big no no!

Lee yl,
the kids are stressed. this is not a time to scold them because teachers will be pressuring them when school reopens. home sweet home is important.

any question which the kids do not understand nor how to do, parents would need to help by solving and showing them the steps. i remember hubby doing the questions with daughter sitting beside. for science, i kept to MCQ.

Janet,
I think not just the kids are stressed. Parents also stressed. Prior to prelims, I was breathing down their necks. Some nights I lost sleep over PSLE. I think it is very hard, but we have to control ourselves, so not to give kids extra pressure.

This year Sc, there is a reduced weightage on the MCQ part. I suspect MOE will further reduce it to 50/50 at some point..

i thought science is reduced to 50/50 weightage this year? this was the reason why daughter's science teacher told her she must score as high as possible for MCQ as her batch (2004) was the last one 'enjoying' 60/40.

both times when my kids were taking psle, i was so stressed and there was a bald patch on the same spot on my scalp. kids know we are stressed, so it is really hard on them too.
