Hi mommies

Just wondering if anyone has sent your child to Cognitive Development Learning Centre at Buona Vista? Am considering sending my K2 son there for some programmes to help him with his concentration.

Any comments would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks!

Hi pingathot

Many thanks for your response. May I know which programme was your child enrolled in and if your child has benefited from it? Are there any improvements?

Thanks!

Hi gerberadaisy
They've to take a test before enrol. They will see whether he is up to par with his standard(that say if your son is P2). Then they'll advise you what is needed and your concern about your son. What you want him to improve. So far, mine has improved. Teachers have complimented him. My son also cannot focus fully during the class. But after going through the programme, I should said we have seen alot of improvement. But it is a pity that it is very far and now his schedule in school is quite pack. Go and take a test and see for yourself.

Hi pingathot

Many thanks for the sharing. I've just enrolled my son with Bridge Learning Centre which offers similar programme as Cognitive. I'll be monitoring his progress and if necessary, will transfer him to Cognitive as it is much nearer my place.

Hi gerberadaisy

We did have a test at Bridge Learning Centre too. But I think the two centres are different in ways of teaching. Perhaps next time you can let me know how the Bridge Learning Centre works. Thks.

Hi pingathot

Oh, I assume both centres run similar programmes. Since you've gone for the assessment at both centres, do you mind to share what made you finally decide on Cognitive? How different are the two centres in their way of teaching?

My son has attended Bridge for two weeks for both the Auditory Processing Programme and the Individual Intervention programme. For the former, he does some computer exercises that train him in his auditory skills. This is useful for those with Sensory Intergration Disorder. For the latter, he does some neuro exercises to train him in his eye-hand coordination, and also some literacy training. He seems to enjoy the classes. Still monitoring his progress.

Hi gerberadaisy

My son has the test done when he was around 5 yrs old but I did not send him to the Bridge as at that time I would like to monitor him before I decide cos thinking he was too young when he took the test. Meanwhile, I did send him for CMA abacus till P3 and then I stopped his lesson. Too much homework plus the school and tuition. In the school, he has chess lessons too and also he has been playing golf since K2. All these more or less help him to focus and concentration. When I chanced upon Cognitive, which at that time just open, I sent my son for the test. That was last year P3. They tested on his standard whether he is up to par; ie reading and understanding, maths etc. Was told that he is about half year behind so I decided to sign up. They have auditory, also using computer, silent reading, peck talk (b4 lesson start, will sit in a big circle, write on a list what is their target and also see the coach praise them one by one for job well done last week etc). I think more or less is the same but I chose cognitive cos look very clean, well plan for classrooms and feedback. My son will brought back his work and result (reading skill and comprehend the story)they had a test after reading the story book. In terms of comfort, I will choose cognitive. That's my point of view.
