Just a early reader or hyperlexia?

Postby Shoe » Wed Apr 04, 2012 9:17 am

My little one's obsessed with letters and numbers and pretty much taught himself to read by 2.5.

Then, I heard from a psychologist friend about hyperlexia... Now I am wondering...is he just an early reader, or is he having some communication disorder?

His social skills etc seem ok and he does enjoy narratives, pretend play etc...his teachers think he's great cos he listens to instrucions and is helpful in class. He does say a lot but he's definitely not as fluent as his sister age for age...

Why worry so fast? Follow the mother instinct. If it tells you nothing is wrong then nothing is wrong. Maybe you son could be high IQ.
