Q and A on Psychological Assessment

Postby CHEERS LS » Tue Mar 25, 2014 12:28 am

Dear parents,

Thank you for your support of CHEERS learning services. We have an overwhelming enquiries on our full psychological assessment packages. Here are some answers to the queries that we have received.

Q and A on Full Psychological Assessment:

1) What does your psychological assessment package consist of?
It consists of an all inclusive package with consultation, assessment tools depending on main concern, feedback and psychological report.

2) What kind of psychological tests are we able to provide?

We do a range of tests such as cognitive ability (IQ test), academic achievement level, test of attention, autism assessments, adaptive behaviour, reading, writing, spelling, phonological processing, emotional and social coping level, school motivation and learning etc. depending on the needs of individual child.

3) Who are the assessors? Are they qualified to run the tests?
The assessors are CHEERS psychologists who are trained and registered with the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS). SPS regulation stipulated that only trained psychologists (minimum Masters degree) with more than 1000 hours of training and supervision are awarded registration certificate.

4) What are the tools you used? Are these psychological tests recognised by local hospitals or schools?
Yes, tests such as WISC-IV for cognitive ability, WIAT-III for scholastic achievement are standardized psychological test tools. The psychological tools are widely recognised by hospitals, schools and government ministries.

5) What are your charges for the Psychological Assessment Package?
CHEERS prices are pegged to the local hospital rates. Our indicative price range is around 30% higher than local hospital rates as we can provide the consultation and assessment at the convenience of your home.

6) How long do you take to complete the report? [/b]

Besides Psychological Assessments, CHEERS specialises in intervention services for children with special needs either individually or group-based from 4-18 years old. Attached are our best selling intervention services.

Here are some testimonials from parents:
"My child started social skills lessons 6 months ago. He is less emotional this year and says the sessions make him see things clearer." Parent of a 10-year-old boy with ASD (Aspergers).

"My child can apply the executive functions skills taught to her (e.g. planning homework time, organizing workspace). She knows these strategies by heart and has become more organised in her work." Parent of a 9-year-old girl with ADHD.

"My child is in Primary 2 but cannot manage basic reading comprehension before he started sessions. I can see improvement because they teach him the basic phonological sounds before proceeding to individual words. I didn't know he was pretending to read before." Parent of a 7-year-old boy diagnosed with Dyslexia

In a few weeks' time, it will be school holidays. For parents who would like your child to attend a reading, writing and spelling holiday programme, here's something for your consideration.
