Hi Parents,

I would like to seek your review on the 20 Special Education school (SPED) as listed in MOE website.

http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/special ... choollist/

We have review on the Primary school, but no review on Special School.

Is it possible to share your review/comments on the Special School. Reason I'm asking is because my son is going to apply for the Special School next year. Appreciate all your input.

And it will be good if you could provide the following:

(1) Special Education School name:
(2) Admission year:
(3) Child diagnose:
(4) Child class: MID or Autism
(5) Your child's admission process:
(6) Your review of the school:

Thank you very much.
:thankyou:

Hi little doggie

I dont know much about these schools, so cant provide any useful information for you.

Would the educational psychologist who administered the IQ test have given some recommendations on a suitable school based on your child's IQ performance, although a score could not be given?

Hi ImMeeMee

Yes, they were able to identify a category of school but as parent we would like to know more about the school in order to make a decision.

Besides, they may not necessary make the best decision for us as they only meet our child for 2 hours (the most) and if the child is not in his/her best mood, the educational psychologist not see the potential of the child at all.

Thanks for your comments :)

Jmel29,

I did not know about Primary School. But I attended an Special School's open house last week, seems like the school is teaching more to the kids (science). Its good in a sense, but I don't know if my son can handle and if not what other special school can he goes to except for MINDS.

Cos from the reviews about MINDS, they teaches mostly of living skills like how to take care of themselves.

Sighz.....lost...why is there so limited information about special school and limited special school in singapore.

Good morning,

No reviews.....

Wonder how many students are there in special education school. Based on the website of Grace orchard, it can accommodate 400 student while Eden school has an intake of 276 student in January 2014.

Hi little doggie, it's me, pinkamoon.

My son was from Eden EIPIC Centre at Clementi and as I can see, quite a number proceeded to going into Eden School.

I don't have any experience but based from one of the mothers I spoke to (went into the web site and saw her son's face is on their website), they are grouped according to few groups with similar abilities and the whole group moves up together. She says the teachers are good but she said that as she felt her son has progressed more than his peers but because he is in a group, they have to wait before the whole group is 'promoted'.

They learn simple things in terms of academics, more of life skills too. So, my friend teaches him at home too. He is alrd in his teens btw.

Hope my little info can give u a tiny idea.

A team of dedicated teachers and ARC(S) autism consultants is developing the Eden curriculum. Upon completion, it will be the first of its type in Singapore.

Our curriculum addresses the unique impairments caused by autism.

The primary goal of our Eden curriculum is to provide an educational experience that will empower our students with autism to live productive and fulfilling lives with the greatest degree of independence that they are capable of achieving.
