weight the natural way...

how old is your baby? if more than 4 months, u can try abit of solid food like rice cereals, yogurts, banana and sweet potatoes. those are higher in calories..also you must feed him/her regularly, we did it at 3 hrs interval even through out at night.

My first was actually premature and we also thought about ways and means for weight gain. but i prefer the natural method if i can help it....

pls ALWAYS check with doctors if you are unsure or read up on your own.

good luck!

Its a wise choice to supplement with semi-solids. I have a pair of twins that's 16 months. They started on porridge at 5mths plus twice a day till now. Using brown rice with scallops/fish/meat + broccoli/spinach + pumpkin. As to brand of BB powder, Fricso or Mamil works pretty well for mine.

Hello justlynne

My DD 2yrs+... I tried feeding her with Pediasure as advised by Dr. It don't seem to work well on her as it causes her to have phelgm. Now mixing similac milk powder with 1 scoop of pediasure, hope this helps to reduce her phelgm.

She loves eating but just don't seem to be putting on weight. Will try feeding her with yoghurts and banana.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Hello Manfrotto

Sometimes she doesn't even want to take porridge for dinner. It's such a headache getting her to eat.

Your brown rice sounds delicious and healthy meal for kids! Maybe I should get my MIL to use brown rice instead.

Did your child gain more weight when using Frisco / Mamil milk powder?

Thanks for sharing!

Mine is a scrawny baby that takes alot of food. -__"-
He's starting to put on some weight now with fresh milk and bigger appetite (giving him some chinese supplements - mentioned in another thread under Health).

Can try giving warmed fresh milk like Meiji Full Cream Milk.
Yummy and cheaper on the pockets compared to FM :)

What's "FM"? I did try feeding her with Meiji full cream milk... is it ok for 2yrs to drink that?

FM means Formula Milk. You can go to this thread that I started. Mrswongtuition gave lots of advice there. My son is also very skinny. He was on Similac, Gain IQ, Grow and sometimes Pediasure which he doesn't really like. I just changed him to Enfaschool, hopefully I will see some improvement. I give him Meiji strawberry milk too.

It is ok for >1yr old to take normal cow's milk.

Any one on Nan?
my ds2 used to take NanHA and since upgraded to Nan3 Pro although he is beyond the 3yo (it states 'Up to 3 yo'). we tried Grow sample pack and i find it too sweet. Nan very expensive ah....
ds2 is around 18kg (going 4yo next mth). he drinks 180ml FM 3x a day and 2 cups of Meiji Choc milk daily.

40-month old DS has always been on Friso. He drinks 3x 210ml daily and now weighs 17.3kg. But I don't think the milk is responsible for his weight since he's a big boy. He's the tallest in his class...his ht and wt are both in the 90th percentile, and his head circumference is in the 97th percentile!! :faint:
