JEI Math (N2 to P1)

JEI Math is an IB (International Baccalaureate) based programme. JEI Math targets at the student strength and weaknesses ONLY. That is, children will focus less time on area they are already strong in and spend more time in area they are weaker in. This is determined via a diagnostic test. The results of the test will be analysed by our central server in Seoul which will then prescribe a series of customised workbooks for the child.

There is NO NEED to do books for the sake of completing a preset series of books to move on to the next level. The child undergoes regular diagnostic test to ensure the prescribed workbooks remain relevant to him/her.

As JEI Math is IB based, its methodology for mathematics operations is identical to MOE. Example - number bonding, addition/subtraction with regrouping, place values of numbers (hundreds/tens/ones etc), shapes & number patterns, ordinal numbers, non heuristic problems sums etc. The JEI Math programme include problem sums but they are not heuristic.

PSLE Math

PSLE Math is a heuristic problem solving programme developed in house by Math Specialist in Singapore. The design of the programme:
> Problem sums are organised into topics and types.
> Sums are colour coded to train children to identify key words in word problems.
> The first question of each type of question will be provided a model plus solution. Together with the colour coded marking system it aim to provide an efficient revision system for parent and student.

JEI PSLE Math Integrated Programme (P2 to P6)

As 80% of PSLE math paper will be in section B and C, our integrated programme targets to train the child in heuristic problem solving skills.
> From P2 to P3, approximately 50% of the programme will be on foundation mathematics using JEI Math. The rest of the time the child will be trained on heuristic problem solving skills.
> From P4 to P6, approximately 80% of the time will be on heuristic problem sums training.

Hi,

Does that mean yr problem sums questions centered around the topics, eg Multipication, Additions, Mass or length. ..... Do you have tests or exam to evaluate them that the children fully understand and know how to solve the problem sums. My gal could not really understand n selects method to solve the problems sum.

The PSLE Math workbooks consist of three types:

T1 - Syllabus Math
These workbooks are according to Syllabus topics. Each workbook focus on only one topic. The questions in the workbook are organised into types. Questions that have the same approach/method of solving are group together as the same type. The first question of each type will be taught and done by the trainer. The second question will be done jointly, the third onwards will be done by the student independently.

T2 - Select Workbooks
These workbooks are usually issued nearer to the examination period. The question in these workbooks are mixed. These questions are selected from schools papers, commonly wrong questions, questions that needed revisions etc.

T3 - Test workbooks
These workbooks are also issued nearer to examinations. The intent is to test and evaluate the child.

Regarding your concern - This is a normal problem faced by many children. Children learn to identify only if they can see similarities. The way T1 workbooks are organised and colour coded aim to present similarities in problem sums to students.

For a child to improve, the trainer and the parents must work together. The parent play a very critical role in the learning equation. As such our trainers will make it a point to spend sometime with our students' parents after every lesson.

JEI Math will be used to address foundation.
PSLE Math will be used to address problem solving skills.
These two programmes will be done in a two hours class.

I heard there's a delay in the opening of the above centre,it'll only start their lessons in April.
