On a side note, besides tuition, how else can we cultivate our children to like Chinese better?
I think the top reasons for children to speak better chinese is:
1. Immersion in a Chinese speaking environment, at home and in school. So parents must make a conscious effort in speaking Chinese with their children. But this needs discipline to kick start. I've tried doing things like speak English only with mommy and speak Chinese only with Daddy, or speak Chinese on alternate days of the week, but in practice, it is very hard to implement.
2. Reading of Chinese story books. Somehow, children, once they get started reading English books, tend to dislike reading Chinese books because they find them harder to read. I've tried buying Doraemon comics, but they are still sitting on the shelf. Anyone have ideas of Chinese comics or books suitable for lower primary students?
