GP/English tuition by Raffles graduate!

Postby druid97 » Sun Dec 04, 2016 12:15 am

RI/RJC graduate here, looking to offer tuition services. Offering GP and English, preferably in the West area.

Relevant Results: All As for humanities in A levels (A for History, Literature, General Paper and Economics, so I feel quite confident in my ability in the humanities)

I tend to prefer teaching people the skills needed to score in the subject (the essay and exam skills) rather than content. Everybody studies the same books, and have access to the same notes and contents, but what differentiates students is their skill level, their ability to mould and shape the content to their usage. Nevertheless, I do have relevant content archived from my time in RI/RJ that I would share with my students.

Preferred time & available timings: because of my schedule, I'll not be able to commit to a fixed timing every week. However, I'll definitely be free on at least 2-3 days per week, so we can definitely work something out! See it as having the freedom to meet wherever we're free :)

Previously conducted tuition with upper secondary to JC students at public cafes. I find that better and more conducive for learning, as compared to home tuition. Also, all my previous students have shown significant improvements especially in their essays, so the proven track record is there. Students can also message me whenever they have questions!

Expected tuition rate per hour: $40 per hour for secondary level, $45 per hour for JC level.

Contact me at 85228036 if interested! :)

That's really refreshing!

About me: RI/RJC graduate here, looking to offer tuition services. Offering GP and English, preferably in the West area. Wrote essays throughout my entire school life, and now wish to pass on the skills that I've learnt to the next generation of students chasing their dreams.

Relevant Results: Straight As for humanities in A levels (A for History, Literature, General Paper and Economics, so I feel quite confident in my ability in essay writing)

The way I teach: I tend to prefer teaching people the skills needed to score in the subject (the essay and exam skills) rather than content. Everybody have access to the same notes and content in school, but what differentiates students is their skill level, their ability to mould and shape the content to their usage. Furthermore, I believe in instilling and developing critical thinking in students - this is instrumental not only in essay writing, but also in their future.

Past track record: taught 2 students o level English for two months. Their grades jumped from C and D respectively to A2 and B3!! They eventually went to RI and NJC respectively. Have also previously taught the IP and A level students, so I'm comfortable with teaching all tracks and kinds of students.

Services I provide: 1) Cafe tuition. From experience, I find the cafe environment the most conducive towards a student's learning. It provides a more relaxed atmosphere as compared to home, and tends to breed creativity and more critical thinking. I'm able to conduct cafe tuition in the following locations: Jurong Point, Jem, Jcube, Westgate, Lot One, Yew Tee Point, Westmall, Clementi Mall, the Star Vista, and Pioneer Mall. 2) Skype tuition. For those who find my locations too far and inconvient, or wishes to learn in the comfort of their own home, I provide Skype tuition as well. Simply send me your essay beforehand, and I'll go through with you over Skype.

"Why you?": I understand that there's no shortage for recent JC graduates like me, plying tuition services in the market for extra cash. Here's why you should hire me.
1) I have a proven track record of improvement (just look at the testimonials). As long as you work hard, there will definitely be improvements.
2) I charge reasonable rates. Not too expensive, but not too cheap as well because I'm confident in the my own value.
3) The most important of all, I genuinely care about the future of my students. I don't prioritise the money, or the time spent - my number one priority is making sure you understand the concept. Furthermore, students can message me queries anytime, any day. I'm always approachable (unless you spam me of course)!

Expected tuition rate per hour: For cafe tuition, $40 per hour for secondary level, $50 per hour for JC level. For Skype tuition, $30 per hour for secondary level, $40 per hour for JC level.

I genuinely wish to help others achieve their dream JC/university. Message me at 85228036 if interested! :)
