How to teach P1 Maths, school-style

Postby jacsplace » Wed Jun 16, 2010 9:49 am

Hi, does anyone know where parents can go to learn how to teach maths the way school teachers do it? My daughter's school uses the My Pals Are Here series. We understand there are many different ways to teach addition, subtraction, etc. so we don't want to teach her the wrong way and confuse her. Her school doesn't offer any guidance for parents.

Perhaps you can just follow the content of the book and teach accordingly. My P1 son also using the My Pals are Here book.

I got those manipulative tools used in the books like the linking cubes and weighing scales to demonstrate. I think it helps him greatly. I also buy the step by step maths assessment book for him to do

Hope that helps.

Thanks. What's the name/publisher of the assessment book? From Popular?
