Raymond's Math Studio - Discussion

Post by lohwpr » Tue Nov 15, 2011 4:56 pm

Dear Kiasu Parents

Do anyone of u sent yr kids to Raymond's Math Studio?

I went down to the studio and first impression of the school setup is quite impressive. Spoke to the Principle, Raymond. He seems to know what he is doing and there is one thing he said which I like. He told me the school takes-in students from all walks of life. They do not just take in the better ones and reject those who are weak. The school actually produces many scholars and to my surprise, they produce a President scholar in 2009.

My boy is very weak in math and he has very low self esteem when it comes to the subject, I hope they can help him to improve on this grade.

Any feedback abt this centre and the teachers?

I sent 4 of my kids to Raymond. One of them doing A levels and another doing O levels this year. The other 2 have already graduated. I am happy to say that they have all done well - A1/2s for O-level E-maths and A-maths & A for A-level maths.

I first chanced on Raymond's advertisement in the newspapers when my eldest son was given an ultimatum by his school at end of sec 3 - improve your grades by first month in sec 4 or drop these subjects - A maths, Bio, and Chem. He had failed these subjects. With only Nov and Dec to work with, I asked Raymond if he could help my son 'make the grade' to continue to study A-maths. He succeeded, barely making it. By year of sec 4, he had attained A1 and A2 for his 2 maths subjects.

That same year, my daughter, in Normal stream, was starting sec 3. I started her with Raymond as well, studying A maths, which was not offered in her school's Normal stream. For O levels, she attained A1 for E-maths and A2 for A-maths.

My younger 2 children have done similarly well (in my opinion :) ) in maths.

Hope this helps. If you do sign up there, be prepared though... he expects the kids to work HARD!

Hi there.

2 of my children have been learning under him for the past 3-4 years. I have seen with my own eyes their results increase dramatically after having sent them there.
Both of them constantly give me very positive feedback about his teachings. Although he is a math tutor, he often teaches many general life and study tips as well, of which both my children seem to be very fond of.

I strongly recommend you to send your kid there and you can have my word that your child will be in safe hands under Raymond.

Just some feedback from a fellow parent, hope this helps.

Hi. Both my eldest daughter and nephew have been with Raymond Maths Studio for the last 2 years. He was strongly recommended by friends staying in the east. So far their Maths results have been good and as parents, we are very satisfied with his teachings. Thanks to Raymond who expects his students to work hard. Hope the above feedback helps.

I sent both my daughter (Sec 3) and son (Sec 1) to Raymond for Maths tuition and I have seen their results improve within a year.

My children enjoy attending Raymond's class and although he can be strict and demanding with the students but he gains their respect. In their words, Raymond has a way to explain the difficult mathematical concepts which they find easy to understand and most importantly, he makes them believe that they can attain good grades if they put in hard work.

So strange.. If your daughter's school did not offer A maths to Normal stream students, how did your daughter get to sit for the paper for O levels?

About 1 year ago, I sent my girl (Sec 2 then) to Raymond's Maths Studio upon my sister's recommendation. At that point in time, I was looking for a Maths tutor for my girl. She was struggling in school and was not getting good grade for Maths. So, her recommendation came at the right time. Within a few months, her results improved. Even her school Maths teacher was surprised. Her teacher asked her how come her results improved suddenly. She told him she had tuition outside!

I asked my girl what is the magic formula? She said Raymond can explain difficult concepts in such a way that she finds it easy to understand. She told me she loves Maths now and enjoys doing Maths questions!!! That is the best! I must thank Raymond for guiding her.

He is strict and demanding but that should be the way to go -> to instil discipline in the students.

Pardon me for saying this; but the posts here about this centre doesn't sound genuine. The posts sound like they are coming from the same person trying hard to promote the centre. I could be wrong though.

I hope you are wrong too. But ... you could be right!
After u mentioned, I can't help but noticed that all posts were made by newbies... and not only are they newbies... all were making their "virgin (debut) posts" ..and all done within the same month !!! I smell a rat :p

[PS: actually i ever chanced upon another thread on Raymond Maths (within this forum) where the feedback wasn't as positive ... can't find the thread anymore ]

Agree. You could be right is an understatement.

Those debut posts go to show business people are inherently creative-read slimy.
