Tackling Editing

For P5 & P6, this section of the exam paper is 10 marks.

How to help your child do well in this section?

1. Read regularly with your child. Make use of newspapers, magazines and interesting articles you come across online.

2. Highlight words with interchanging word classes.
E.g. Approves - Approval

3. Study from a list of commonly misspelled words (available on my website: www.mwtuition.com.sg under 'Resources'). Some words may seem simple but when presented with a misspelled word, children usually get confused. Try to misspell the words delibrately when testing your child.

4. Practise! Conquer Editing & Punctuation is a good book to get for practise.

Hope this helps!

I've updated the list after some parents spotted spelling mistakes (so sorry!).

Do take a look at the new list (I've updated the font so it's larger and the words are not so tight together). :)
