Discussions on tuition centres/enrichment services that specialise in Chinese.
only for those scoring 85 and above? how about the weaker ones? those who scored high technically don't need extra tuition. JMHO, it's really the weaker ones that need it right? unless they are just out for the KPI of having more A*s...
I know Tien Sia also holds extra lessons for their students closer to exam period. open for all if have slots. that sounds more fair...
Serious? Thought should be for all P6..
Last year, those (free, weekly from Semester 2 to PSLE day) extra lessons targeted all P6es. Apparently, the results were not desirable, so they decide to change strategy & focus on students with Normal Chinese marks >85. A student who does not meet the marks but wants to join in the lesson can speak to his tutor about it. Content is pitched at a more challenging level. & invitation is extended by the P6 tutor; reception does not have the details.wrote:HCL is conducting extra weekly free lessons for some of their P6s (those who scored min 85 for SA1), from next week till mid August. Anyone knows if this is the first time they are doing this?
Tien Hsia P6 extra lessons do not take place every week, though they are open (free) to all P6es, & those who do not manage to attend or book a place can still get a copy of the lesson's notes.
My DC1 was asked to go for it. Not too sure whether it was the first time they had this but it was not an issue for us. We didn't question.
We went for extra oral and compo and compre for free. The teacher requested it. We went ahead coz DC1 insisted that and we render support only. DC1 always came back feeling >100% confident after each and every lesson and in fact complained not enough.
The teacher doing it because they believe in the kids and it is their passion. Till todate, my DS1 still keep in touch with his CL tuition teacher.
