Hi, would like to check is there a different way of writing the alphabet? My son wrote the letter q with the serif but was marked wrong.

In 汉语拼音,q is written without the 尾巴.

Yes, according to my son's teacher, 'q' cannot have the tail. And 't' must curl up a bit at the end so that it does not look like a,'+' sign.

yes, my DS' teacher also marked him wrong with the serif for 'q' and the sans serif for his 't'.

'q' must be like long 9.
't' must hv the little curl so it doesn't look like 十.

The child has to write the Chinese q for Hanyu Pinyin, not the English q. You can refer to Chinese textbook for the correct stroke of q.

In fact for Pri 1, parents can form a wats app chat with other parents who have children from same class and update each other. As for me, I have updated the parents of the children in my DD's class through wats app so that their dd do not make the q mistake. Keeping in contact through wats app with other parents of the same class may be an option you wish to consider.

Thanks I only have 1 parent's contact whose child is in the same class as my son as they were childcare mates. How do you form the network with the rest of the parents?

If your child's school organizes P1 Briefing or any events that parents can get together, you can get the contact number quite easily. Alternatively, you may want to give out your hp number to other parents and get your child to distribute to his/her classmates and hopefully they contact you and you can add more parents through wats app.

If you have SCV Starhub cable, I recommend you to subscribe channel 325 for your child. Very educational Rediffusion Chinese programme for Pri 1 to Pri 6 levels and follow closely to syllabus. My dd enjoys this Chinese programme a lot as it can captivate her attention and interest in learning Chinese.
