I would think it is better to attend to attend the 3 hr lesson on a weekend rather than after school on weekday. Imagine the lesson stretching for more than 3.5hrs after Long day in school...

Understand no breaks for snacks during the lesson too, only toilet breaks...frankly speaking, I think it is really quite draining on the kids.

in my child's P4 3 hr class @Eastgate, got one new student transferred in, from another popular Chinese tuition centre.

After the first lesson started in the last week of December 2016, she said don't want to come next week anymore, because the P4 class ended beyond 3.5 hrs. She was very tired when she came out of the classroom, saying that she wrote zuowen until her hands so tired. She said Tr gave her a sweet to suck, during break time.

if you refer to P4 3 hr notes, they covered a lot of stuff.
Besides content of Paper 2, every lesson covered include Oral reading aloud, plus write one piece of zuowen every week.
they cramp a lot of stuff, inside the 3 hr lesson.

admin counter said for one whole year, the maximum number of make-up classes, is 6.

That's very little, isn't it ?

laughingcat wrote:But pls parents....do consider whether your kids can handle the Wang Laoshi class also. Different kids different strokes. While parents do think certain centre is really good but then the kids cannot handle. To be honest, Wang Laoshi class is really tough hor. I have seen kids cry before going to the classes.....mind you it is only the 2nd class. Don't kill the joy of learning. Only parents know your child, see whether your child can persevere or can tahan. Really heart pain to see kids cry going to classes.

Overheard a parent standing outside the class and told off her son...."if you can't finish the 作文, you will need to stay for another 1 hour or stay overnight at the centre. I can't help you hor". kuku parent :faint:

Another incident.....seen so many kids on the 2nd lesson stayed back to do correction because they did not memorise the sentence or did not learn the 听写.

Sometime I really 佩服 some kids, they can attend the 3 hrs lesson after their school hours. Really :salute:

3 hrs becoming 3.5 or 4 hrs lesson.....is no joke. How many adults can really tahan 3 hrs lecture and still wants more? So pls consider your child's state of mind before you considering to embark Wang Laoshi.

I am not saying certain centre is good or bad. All learning centres are good in some sense but you need to see whether the particular centre can tap onto your child's love for learning. Of course teacher plays an important role. No matter how good the centre is.....actually is the teachers' deliverable.

I'm facing exactly this predicament. My P2 gal was crying last week (3rd lesson) before class saying she doesn't want to go. Reason being she cannot remember the spelling and dictation. I know she's facing a shock. From no spelling in Berries to a long list of words. We are just going through the list everyday from Mon to Say bit by bit and it seems a lot for her to handle.

I'm worried if I'm killing her interest by insisting on continuing. The thing is she comes out happy at the end. Simply just dread the process in between from learning spelling to corrections of zuowen. And we ended up with no time to go through all the reading

Her level of standard is up to mark in school and I hope she can maintain that and have a good foundation in zuowen n oral when she's in P3.

Pls share your opinions.

Hi, Do discuss the issue with Wang laoshi. They should try to help make coming to class less stressful.

Does Wang include LC during its 3hr lesson? I find that LC is very important...Jiang doesn't cover much of LC unfortunately.
