May I ask what is the estimated cost for an installation of cctv at home?
Thank you.

Depends on your requirements. Night vision (Infra), cabling, recording, playback monitor, etc

Like that don’t need CCTV. A simple IP video camera (or two) with wireless internet is good enough.

Xiaomi home security camera 360 1080p is selling for about $55 each. Cheap and good, comes with all the bells and whistles (including IR) without the high cost.

I don't really understand the difference btn cctv and a video cam.
Basically, I want to "view" the living room, kitchen and bedroom.
I guess the one time purchase cost may not be too expensive. Am more concern on the on-going wireless internet cost. Thank you.

CCTV - Closed-Circuit TV. Analog recording devices mainly for industrial use, or high security surveillance.

IP camera - Internet Protocol camera aka webcam aka netcam. Record on SD card, playback / monitoring via phone app.

You will need about 2 or 3 cameras to cover those areas and internet access w/ wireless router. On-going internet cost should be reasonable, normal home broadband will do.

Has anybody here have real experience with such cameras? I think of buying one for the twins. I've compared different models from this list https://cutelittledarling.com/best-baby ... for-twins/ and Motorola or Infant Optics seem the most suitable options, what do you think? Would you prefer the one with sound?

If that is the case i would recommend an IP camera with full audio recording that can be stored in a hard disk. Brands like Hikvision and Dahua have apps that can link your smartphone to the camera which allows you to check on the footage anytime.

However if you want to install a cctv that would depend on the specifications of the camera you are gettting , Here is a guide
