Cloud storage services

  • Quote

Post by ngl2010 » Wed Jan 19, 2022 11:37 pm

My PC hard drive and free Google Drive is almost full. My free DropBox is full. I think it is almost time for me to subscribe to Cloud storage services. I prefer DropBox's interface than Google Drive's interface. I feel the DropBox's interface is like hard drive's interface. It is fast to drag and drop anything. Do you have any recommendation for Cloud storage services that is easy to use and fast to drag and drop?

Thank you.

I was also looking for cloud storage option a couple of years ago so that I can access all my resources anywhere I go instead of relying on file transfers/thumb drive/storage disks.

Microsoft OneDrive was my eventual solution. It works like DropBox - just access via My Computer (File Explorer).
- There's 5 GB of free storage when you sign up. However, seeing that your Google Drive is almost full, I guess this may not be enough for you? :
- If you need more, you can consider getting Microsoft 365 Personal as it comes with 1TB free storage. It's a year to year subscription though.
- There's a cheaper 100GB subscription option too.

Otherwise, you can also considering expanding your DropBox
- This one expands your account to 18GB permanently for $8.50 (this is achieved through "referrals" reward):

I purchased something similar previously

I paid for one drive and google drive services... keep paying every year. Sigh. I've stopped using Dropbox because they keep hounding me to pay. Think I should terminate either one drive or google drive, because I'm hardly using 10% of the storage. It's also rather confusing where I stored my files.

Thank you Chenlaoshi. You managed to buy 46.8GB? :yikes: I will buy the 18GB. So cheap! It is useful when somebody is sharing DropBox with me. Thank you!

Chief, I am tempted to subscribe to pCloud. It is Euro 350 for 2TB for lifetime. Lifetime leh. No need to keep paying and paying. My worry is that until when can they survive? Maybe it works like Ponzi scheme :rotflmao: But they have been around since 2013. Have you heard about pCloud? I wonder how easy it is to use. Maybe I should try the free version first...

My hard disk is almost full. I cannot expand the hard disk anymore. Anyway, I have lost my hard disk once (corrupted). It is painful  . So I think cloud is a better solution for me.

Don't mention it, ngl2010.

Last time got lots of free promo code etc. so I accumulated quite a bit of free space. Subsequently when I saw the offer, I purchased the 22GB option. Do note that it will take time for the total space to be added to your account (might take up 1-2 weeks in total) but you will notice gradual increment.

I actually wanted to intro you to the OneDrive 5TB lifetime subscription deal but when I checked yesterday, it was gone.

I realised even with close to 50GB, DropBox may not the best option for me + I chanced upon the OneDrive offer a couple of years ago, so I bought it. I backup my data on external hard disk drive periodically though, cos I'm still a little paranoid  - $12 for lifetime 5TB, like too good to be true (so far so good though, fingers crossed  )

I remember I saw a very cheap OneDrive offer a few years ago but I didn’t dare to buy ‘cos I thought it is too good to be true. In case one day the storage is gone then jialat

For the DropBox, I think it is legit. It is just somebody is ‘referring’ us to many people so we’ll get referral storage.

I've not heard of pCloud. Not now... when I'm trying to get rid of cloud storage :)

I'll probably stop subscribing to Google at the end of the year, and move everything to just onedrive. Yes, 1 is enough
