Postby keth » Wed Jan 12, 2011 4:06 pm

Hi,
I'm looking for a software which parent can set time limit for the kid on the usage. Besides, the Parent Control of Vista and Software Time, any other software that is good?

Software to limit computer usage

Thanks for the suggestion. However, K9 Web Protection seem doesn't have the features that I need. That is,
- to allocate few hrs (e.g. 2hrs) within a period of time (e.g. 1pm - 9pm)
- to generate a daily report the list the websites visited with date & time
- to monitor chat

I've done a search in internet and found KidsWatch Professional which includes time management, website filtering, chat monitoring, chat alerts, predator watch & reporting. One license allows you to install on up to 3 PC's. It costs US$ 45.95.

Have anyone use this software before?
Or know of any other software?

Hi YMB.

Do you need to pay yearly for Safeeyes? Website shows US$ 49.95 subscription fee per year. It seems expensive.

KidsWatch Prof is one-time payment for 3 PCs at US$ 49.95. After the first year the Website Filtering component is renewable at an annual cost of $29.95. All other features are not subscription based and will continue to function forever.

KidsWatch is rank as #1 in http://parental-time-control-software-r ... views.com/ This website gives a comparison of the features among the top few products.

Good solution for Mac users is installing good monitoring software, such as ActyMacDutyWatch for example.Allows to control what your kida did, when you went out)

Software to limit computer usage

Postby jliew » Wed Apr 06, 2011 1:23 pm

Hi all, thanks for yr inputs.

I've eventually bought the software "Child Control 2011" after installing the 30d trial version. Quite happy with it as it fulfills all my criteria as follow:

1) Support my PC OS (windows 7, vista)
2) Set time limit for computer, internet and program usage
3) Set different time limit for a specific website (like facebook)
4) Filter / block specific websites
5) Allow extension of computer time by issuing one-time use token
6) Report/Log the websites visited with date & time stamp
7) Have web interface to be accessible remotely from other locations over the internet
8) Unique account settings for each child
9) One-time payment for the software (no yearly subscription fee)

While searching, I came across two free software. However, I didn’t download to try. Not sure is it good & free from virus. However, if you've used any of the free software, pls share yr feedback.
