Hi Parents!

We are a group of JC1 students and we are currently doing our Project Work research for our 'A' Levels. Our project is about smartphone addiction in young children ages 5 to 8. We wish to learn more about the causes and effects of smartphone addiction among young kids, hence we have come up with a survey to try and get some definitive answers. If you are a parent of children aged between 5 and 8, we hope that you could spare some time and fill in our survey.

The link is: http://tinyurl.com/smartphonekids

Thank you so much for your help. Your response will go a long way in our project.

P.S. To parents who have responded, thank you very much!

I recommend go with more kid friendly games, there are a lot of them in play store.

Mine also. All Daddy’s fault. When he plays, son also wants to play.

Can start by cutting down on the time spent. I count by number of games. Now max 1 game (on his own) or 2 games (with Daddy). After that game over, go and read story book.

Study comes first. Tell him you will confiscate the iPad if he doesn’t finish his assigned work. Or if his marks drop. iPad is a privilege and reward for good behavior & good marks.

Sorry I dunno what works on teenagers. To me, scream and shout still bearable if he’s not violent throwing things or hurting you.

Imagine if long term addiction is allowed to persist...next time go workplace, when supposed to do work, end up playing games, employer reprimand him & he scream and shout...is that acceptable behavior? Please look long term and see what could happen. Some “pain” is required now, to teach appropriate responsibility.
