Is iPhone more superior?

Which brand/model Smartphone would you recommend?

Can web surfing on mobile phone be carried out anywhere? Like on the bus?

Paiseh for such seemingly stupid qns. I really am an idiot when it comes to such IT stuff.

MTIA for your enlightenment.

iPhone is good.

But if you want big screen, I think the new HTC Touch HD2 is the best for mobile surfing, it is quick, has a 1 gig processor & specs wise beats iPhone hands down.

Hope this help :D

I love my iPhone n surf practically everywhere on it even at home cos it's so convenient it's with me all the time. In fact, if I didn't have it I wouldn't be checking my emails or even be on this forum half so often. VitoRelax is right about the htc touch tho. My cousin in law as one n he prefers his to the iPhone. I don't know if you'll have access to as many Apps as the iPhone tho which has a dizzying array of all sorts of Apps - you can download loads of stuff for free like bus routes, foreign language instruction, dictionaries in all languages, games, books etc. Taking pictures and uploading them are a cinch with it. It's got a great music player too. You can watch movies n YouTube clips almost anywhere. You'll never be bored waiting anywhere. Data plans are so cheap now.

The language instruction is the one feature that caught my attention when it was advertised very briefly in a TV commercial flash. I thought it would be useful for my boy who will be learning a 3rd language, convenient for him to revise his 3rd language anywhere anytime. Is an iPhone very expensive?

Can a Smartphone do this too?

MTIA your input.

You can get an iPhone without paying anything if you subscribe to a high usage plan. It's ao competitive now with all the mobile service providers offering the phone. Go online or call to see which one has the most suitable plan for you.

Yes, there are many dictionaries, translators, learning languages applications on iphones. Free ones are with some limits, those paid ones are full version (not expensive).

If you thinking to get for your boy, just remember, iphone can also fb, tweet, go online, msn very easily. If you boy is not addicted to all these, can control himself, its fine.

What I like to tell people nowadays is that the least important function of the iPhone is the phone part. :) In fact, its most important function, arguably, depending on your needs, is internet access - for all sorts of reasons, not just for surfing websites. The iPhone is a PDA, browser, social computing, etc. device.

Eg, there is a grocery app where you can sync shopping lists with your spouse. The idea is that say you are shopping at different ends of Carrefour. If one person picks up something and indicates in his iphone, your iphone will also update. This is an example of mobile social computing. :)

Regarding surfing the net or accessing web services on a mobile, bear in mind that not all phones are equal. The Safari browser on the iphone is very decent, but has no flash if that's important to you. Android/Nexus One supposedly wins there. But mainly, be careful about older phones, eg. those on Symbian OS... by and large, those can't really perform on the web well.

Regarding the price of an iPhone - the argument is simple: it's pointless to own an iphone without a data subscription (because it's meaningless, if you ask me, to own an iphone if you only plan to use it as a mobile phone - this is my question to the hokkien aunties queueing at M1, LOL).

Thanks to M1 ("we led, they followed"), you can now get 12Gb of data, capped at $30. As some pple say, 12GB you can surf like "siao" and still won't finish. So, it would seem like a perfectly logical idea to sign a contract, get the 12GB, and pay less for the phone itself.

Regarding mobile computing, this year 2010 will a very special year for this aspect of technology in our lives. With Android maturing and the rumoured iPhone 4G* and Apple iTablet*, among other things - it is a very good time to look into this - not because we want to show off gadgets, but because this is the beginning of a new era of mobile computing. It's going to change our lives (like the grocery cart example).

*If you wait a leeeeetle bit more, on 27 Jan, Apple will officially announce... something....
