Ali has more than 30 marbles but fewer than 40 marbles.
If he puts them into groups of 4, there will be a reminder of 3 marbles.
If he puts them into groups of 6, there will be a reminder of 5 marbles.
How many marbles does Ali have?

First, either 32+3 or 36+3
Since group into 6 will give you remainder 3 for 36+3, it has to be 32+3

One possible solution:

Let Noel put his $360 into 1 Bag and 3 Boxes.

Let Kim put her $240 into 3 Bags and 1 Box.


Noel spent his 1 Bag of money, and Kim spent her 3 Bags of money.
(They spent 4 Bags of money altogether).


Noel had 3 Boxes of money left, and Kim had 1 Box of money left.


1 Bag + 3 Boxes → $360 ……….. (Row 1)

3 Bags and 1 Box → $240
(x 3)
9 Bags and 3 Boxes → $720……… (Row 2)


(Row 2) – (Row 1)

8 Bags and 0 Box → $720 - $360
8 Bags → $360
4 Bags → $180
(They spent 4 Bags of money altogether).

They spent $180 altogether.

Based on the ratios of the salaries and savings :

Z salary is 4/5 of J saving
4u = 4/5 * 15k
u = 3k

Z expenditure is 4u - 4k = 12k -4k = 8k
J expenditure 7u - 15k = 21k - 15k = 6k
J : Z = 6k : 8k = 3 : 4
