I think I will give Marymount Convent a missed because it's >2KM for us... I feel that convenient is also very important for both the kid and parents. So now we will look around other primary school nearby us will be better. I think the next nearest will be AMKPS... So most likely that will be our next choice if we fail to get in SNGS... :xedfingers:

Hi parents,

Need some advice here.. If I am staying about 2km away from Anderson Primary School.. Is it safe to join as PV in order to get in at phase 2B? As the past years statistic of the school at phase 2B never required balloting...

Hi I'm considering either St Nics (within 2km) for phrase 2C, if can't get in, go for Jing Shan (within 1km). Any advise. Was thinking of trying my luck for St Nics. If no luck, go for the nearest one.

Anyone has any feedback about Jing Shan Primary? Is the school good? Not in terms of academic results but the professionalism of teachers / principal, school facilities, culture, etc. I think there are limited choices for CCAs at JSPS.

Any advise?

St nicks is balloting within 1km. You won't even get a chance to ballot. Try Jingshan instead,

Thanks, mashy.

How about Anderson Primary? Any chance? Actually if JSPS is a good school, I'll just register for JSPS. Anyone has any kids who are in JSPS? Kindly share your thoughts. Thanks!

It's also balloting within 1km.

My thoughts are that all Neighbourhood schools are ultimately Neighbourhood schools and they don't have much difference. The key thing that affects the direction is the school principal. A good principal will introduce good Programmes and a lousy one will dismantle everything and reduce it to bits. The sad thing is the schools change principals every few years so although the school may be good now, but if you suay suay went in when a new untested principal steps in, everything may change.

I think otherwise, there isn't much difference between the Neighbourhood schools. Elite schools will have more Programmes, a more well oiled teaching system, more resources and also will ask more money from you. I will suggest that you can go for Jingshan or Chij olgc (Serangoon gardens) and transfer over to St nicks at p3 if she performs well in p1 and p2.

Oh, so sad to heard that Anderson's Sports/IT/Music classes has been abolished. I like the idea of having those classes.

Hi Parents,

I stay in Bishan and I've two kids, one is registering for P1 next year and the other is registering for P1 the year after. I am an old boy of Catholic High and my wife is an old girl of St Nick's. BUT we have chosen not to put our kids in those schools, for several reasons: 1. We wanted them to go to school with students of different races/social class. 2. We wanted them to attend school together (I've a boy and a girl). 3. We didn't want to put too much stress on them. I've spent the last few months visiting the primary schools in the AMK area, attending the Open Houses, interrogating the principals / vice-principals (anybody else who would talk to me)... My wife and I have still a couple of open houses and interrogations to do, but as of today, we are leaning towards Jing Shan.

I do whole-heartedly believe in Heng Swee Keat's vision of Every School a Good School. I teach at United World College, SEA, and SOTA. I believe that our children's education is what we make of it.

Just thought I'd share...

Hi mcw03e,

May I know why are you leaning towards Jing Shan?
Have you talked to Anderson Principal? How do you find it?

I am thinking of Anderson, Teck ghee and Jing Shan.
Hope you can share. Thanks.
