Personally, I would say yes, esp. for Mother Tongue. The 1st chance to sit for the paper is around end May/start June. If the student does well enough, he/she can opt not to take the paper at year end. That's 1 less subject to spend time on, freeing time to be spent on revising other subjects.

Should start revising sec 3 stuff as most subjects are 2 year course for O levels except languages and Math which is Sec 1 to 4

Depending on her grades & aim for O levels...For most students, they should start their preparation now especially for languages. They need to practise a lot of writing...Schools typically cover less than a dozen over the entire year.

It would be good to start now. December holidays is the best time to brush up on the weaker secondary 3 subjects and then moving forward to read ahead on the secondary 4 chapters. At the same time, do not put too much stress on her as this end of year holiday is a time for them to recharge and go all out to study hard when school term starts next year. Hope this helps. :rahrah:

Just took my O level this year and currently awaiting my results to come out in January, but i have to say if you want to be 'on task' or be well prepared i'd say, start preparing during december holidays, especially on sciences & languages. MT paper in May/June can be done and over with if you're prepared well enough so one burden off your chest while others need to retake it in November (this is my case for me, really regret not studying well for MT in May, end up needed to take paper again while some friends didnt need to take it). For sciences, most of the topics are taught sec 3 and they're the foundations to the subjects so it's best to read through materials every now and then, may help in better understanding of subject. For subjects like mathematics/A-maths i suggest you do A LOT of practice, because questions that come out may be unpredictable and especially for AMath, it may be hard to remember many og the formulas etc so better to drill them in your head! Practice really helps and allows you to get used to the types of questions being asked and over time you'll find it easier to answer questions (from someone who redid TYS questions two times or more). For humanities all i can say is, understand and pay attention in class, it's important to pick out important details and information and take note of them! Secondary two just make sure he does well in his exams so he'll be able to get the subject combinations he want for streaming! All i can say is pay attention in class and do homework & assignments on time, it'll be beneficial in the end. Wishing him all the best! :rahrah:
